Review: Shame Me Not

Title: Shame Me Not
Author: Fiona Cole
(May Contain Spoilers)

Synopsis:

Shame. Panic. Desire. Dominance. Disgust.

All feelings that I was familiar with from the age of sixteen. That's when I met Ana. The girl next door who became so much more. Until her, I was alone in the dark desires that I didn't understand, that I couldn't reconcile.

My best friend, she accepted me. Helped me see that there was no shame in the things that we both craved. Her submission was a drug, my dominance over her a high that I'd never experienced. When we were together, I was at peace for the first time in my life.

But it was too good to last. Our own guilt over our feelings, of our appetite for pain and pleasure, destroyed us.

I was convinced that all I needed was a chance, just one more chance to overcome my shame, and Ana would be able to trust me again.

If only it were that easy.

*WARNING: This book is an erotic romance and does contain consensual sexual situations between characters under eighteen that include submission and domination.

Review::

Ok, first thing, is usually i try not to let my name being in a book bother me too much, but a lot of the time it did pull me out of the story a bit (it was the main female characters mom who shared the same name)
Second, for half the book the characters were under 18- yes they were consensule, & yes they were exploring what they liked sexually, but i didn't know whether i should like them & what they were doing, if I should find it hot & sexy or if i shouldn't being that i am 29 & it comes off as me being a creeper.
Third, this was a LONG book. Once i got past the first half it seemed to go much faster, then there just wasn't enough of part 3 to satisfy me & cannot wait for Make it to the Alter.
With that being said, i KNOW that we needed the first part- to see Kevin & Ana exploring who they were & the feelings that went along with it- but it still weired me out a little.
But Kevin and Ana's story was cute & they were made for each other. & even though at times I felt it was drawn out, or if having my name (& then later my fiance's name) in the story pulled me out of it a little bit, i still really enjoy it.
It starts off with Ana moving next door to Kevin when she was 16. And they quickly became best friends. But he secretly liked her. & she secretly liked him. She didn't want to do anything to ruin their friendship, and he felt shame for what he liked during sex- and being a politicians son- if word ever got out about what he liked it could have the potential to ruin his fathers career.
They tried to see other people, and it never worked out. And they tried seeing each other- until they left for college.
Part 2 takes place 3 years into college & they crossed paths again. Kevin has had time to explore more what he likes & come to terms with it. Ana has had a bad expierence finding someone (besides Kevin) who gets what she likes- she she is now living in fear, and shame- especially about others finding out, and her just wanting to be normal. She is faced with two options... Does she choose Kevin who knows what she likes and needs, and can give it to her, or Andrew who is the normal guy who promises a normal life that she so desperately wants to want.
Part three, takes place four years after college when both have gone on to start their jobs.
I think some of the book is dragged out, whereas other parts seems a bit rushed. I really did like Kevin and Ana together and cannot wait to read Make It To the Alter coming out Febuary 8th. I give this 3.5 ⭐ out of 5⭐. It would have been more, but i was a little thrown on what to think with part 1, and with some of the names.
