Book Tag: Top reads of 2018

Hi guys!
It's time to announce my top reads of 2018.
2018 was full of many amazing reads! I read 101 books this year, and broke down my favorites to 15.

In no particular order my favorite reads of 2018 include

* Crowned With Guilt and Cleansed With Fire by S.K. Rose. I LOVED these books! Such amazing emotional YA/NA romance reads!

* The Wrong Blaze by Meagan Brandy. If you love angst with your romance then you will love this!

* Midnight Blue, Bane, and Dirty Headlines by LJ Shen. She is the queen of writing assholes. Bane continues the Sinners of Saints series of standalones, and Midnight Blue is a Rockstar romance, and Dirty Headlines is a workplace romance.

*The Royals series by Erin Watt. More YA/NA angsty romance filled with drama.

*A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J Maas. I loved returning to the fae world she beautifully created.

*Dawson Family Series by Emily Goodwin. Best friends younger sister? Check. Surprise pregnancy? Check. And a huge loving family? Double check. And that is just book 1 & 2! Book 3 follows a con artist nanny, working for a cop.

*The Bishop Brothers series by Kennedy Fox. Seriously, if you love southern romances these are for you!

* The Texting series by Teagan Hunter. I love these romantic comedies so much! Let's Get Textual is a romance that began with a text from a wrong number. I Wanna Text You Up is a roamnce between roommates. And Can't Text This is a teacher and her student's stingle dad.

*Violent Circle series and Jilted series by S.M. Shade. Scarlet Toys, Frat House, and Clean Start are all laugh out loud romantic comedies that are a must read. Duplicity and Feracity is a Rockstar romance with a twist.

*Heartbreak Warfare by Heather M Orgeron & Kate Stewart. Such a emotional read beginning to end.

*Limelight by Alyson Santos. An emotionally charged rockstar romance.

*I Dare You by Shantel Tessier is another YA/NA romance filled with drama beginning to end.

(Not pictured)
* The Wild Ones series by CM Owens. Another romantic comedy about a small town filled with crazy fun.

*Someone Else's Ocean by Kate Stewart. Another great emotional read.

*Dirty Deeds series by J. Daniels. Absolutely loved Four Letter Word (another wrong number text book), Hit the Spot (enemies to lovers), and Bad For You (friends to lovers/single parent romance).

*Voyuer by Fiona Cole. Talk about a steamy student teacher romance.

*Broken by Ellie Messe. Okay so this was one of last year's favorites, but I did reread it this year and still honestly love it! Plus, Famished came out this year (I haven't grabbed my copy yet, but I cannot wait to jump into it for 2019!)

Honerable Mentions:
Some fantastic honerable Mentions include (in no particular order)

(Not pitcured)
*Fumbled Hearts & Defenseless Hearts by Meagan Brandy. YA/NA sports romance.

Okay so I may have fibbed slightly when I said I had narrowed down my choices to just fifteen 😬😬 but can you blame me? 2018 was filled with so many great reads!!

Synopsis

I remembered her. I remembered everything.
But was it a blessing or a curse?

Half of me was still in love with the blue eyed girl wearing my crown around her neck. The other, felt betrayed that she could walk away when I needed her the most.

Struck down by her absence, an internal war brewed within my kingdom. Along with my childhood memories a new emotion was unleashed, one I was unable to control.

Rage

Unbridled, unrelenting, rage.

Review:
Once upon a time there was a beautiful, but broken princess named Tessa. She lived in a hell trapped by a dragon, the only time she is truly happy is in her castle with her prince. But life isn't a fairy tale and happily ever after doesn't exist.
The prince forgot her, and left her behind. And the princess always faced with darkness gave in and became the Reaper.
Tessa is just a girl trying to survive in a world that does nothing but knock her down, time and time again.
Chase is her best friend, both two souls born into darkness leaning on each other for support. Both having a glimpse at freedom- but freedom, as with anything comes with a price.
Force to come back and face the monsters of their past, and all they left behind. Including Andrew. Her prince. Once the sweet boy with the crooked smile, now grown and filled with rage. Once so full of light, he now has a little darkness of his own.
Will the the angry prince and broken princess be able to write their own story, or is history doomed to repeat itself?
I stayed up until 5 am last night to finish this book. I am sleep deprived with only a couple hours of sleep, and my emotions were all over the place. This book. This book is the stunning conclusion of the Remember the Reaper Duet series following the events of Crowned With Guilt. I am still so much in love with these characters. Tessa who their are many sides of her- including her strength her will to survive. Chase- he's a jokster, and born into the same darkness as Tessa. And I related to both. On some of what they been through, and their want to survive.
Then there is Andrew who turned a little dark in Tessa's absence. He wasnt the same boy who was left behind. Marybeth once the small bubbly pink haired girl, now grown and blonde.
The story takes many unexpected twists and turns, and kept me on the edge of my seat, wanting to know what happened to these characters I fell in love with. 5⭐ out of 5⭐.

Blog Tour: Side Hustle

From New York Times bestselling author Emily Goodwin comes a sexy standalone romance about a single dad who has sworn off women and the nanny who is faced with the biggest con she has ever pulled, not falling in love.

Side Hustle by Emily Goodwin is live!

When Scarlet Cooper takes a new job as a nanny, she assumes she’s going to work for the rich couple who hired her. But instead of pulling up to their million-dollar estate, she finds herself on the front porch of a humble farmhouse, looking into the eyes of dark and brooding single dad, Weston Dawson.

It’s bad enough that Weston doesn’t have a fortune to charm out of him, but he’s also a cop.  After marrying his high school sweetheart only to have her up and leave weeks after their baby was born, Weston has sworn off women for life. All that matters now is taking care of his son, Jackson.

If anyone can break down the tough exterior of the former soldier, it’s Scarlet. But just when she’s close to getting exactly what she wants, she’s faced with a whole new challenge, which just might be the biggest con she’s ever pulled: pretending she doesn’t love him.

Excerpt:

Compartmentalizing and not dealing with my feelings is my thing. My claim to fame. The only reason I’ve been able to get by this well for so long. My deck has always been stacked a few cards short, and in a dog-eat-dog world, I’ve never had the chance to stop and think about a better life.
    And I mean really think.
Like muffins and bacon kind of thinking.
Opening the oven, I grab a piece of bacon before making a pot of coffee. The smell of French roast fills the air, and something inside me relaxes.
“Morning,” Wes says when he comes into the kitchen. He’s dressed in his uniform and he looks so good I don’t think I’d be surprised if someone started playing Hot in Here and he started taking off all his clothes in a private strip show just for me.
I’d grab the bacon, sit back, and watch.
“Morning,” I say back, going to the cabinet to get him a coffee cup. Assuming he’ll have his coffee the same way he did yesterday, I fill the cup and add just a little bit of cream and sugar. “Do you want eggs? I was just about to make some.”
Wes’s brows move together, and he looks around the kitchen as if I finger-painted the furniture, not made him breakfast.
    “Sure.”
“Okay. Have a seat, it’ll only take a few minutes.” I already preheated the pan. With my back to him, I focus on the eggs, doing my best not to turn around and make small talk, because I know if I look into Weston’s dark eyes, there’s a good chance I’ll turn into a pile of goo on the floor.
And then who’s going to finish making breakfast?
“You didn’t have to do all this,” Weston says in a level tone. “We usually eat cereal or Pop Tarts in the morning.”
“I was up, and that’s the kind of thing I usually eat too. Something hot for breakfast sounded nice.”
I turn down the burner and risk a look back at Weston. He’s pulled his hair away from his face and is leaning back in the kitchen chair. He looks right at me and something burns behind his stormy eyes.
“Yeah, a hot breakfast is nice every now and then.”
He’s literally agreeing with words I just spoke, yet I’m feeling flush like he’s filling every syllable with a secret innuendo. And dammit—I want him to. And now there’s no denying that Weston Dawson has done the impossible: gotten under my skin and is weaseling his way into that dark cavity in my chest that some call a heart.

Reread: Crowned With Guilt

Title: Crowned With Guilt
Series: Remember the Reaper Duet
Author: S.K. Rose
Blurb:

As a child, I discovered a castle.
It became a sanctuary from the nightmare that was my life, but my fairytale truly began when he found me.
The boy with green eyes and crooked smile.
The boy with stories and an imagination that could take us far, far away.

In our castle he was the prince, and I the princess.
For the first time in my life I was safe, happy.
I was loved.
But every fairytale has a villain, ours would be no different.
I just never expected the villain to be me.

Review:
Yes I reread this book again, because book two Cleansed With Fire is being released Dec 20th and I wanted this story fresh in my mind.
Even after multiple rereads (in the same second half of the year no less) this story is still one of my all time favorites. It is still heartbreakingly beautiful. And I still absolutely love it.
It follows Tessa who has been dealt a shitty hand in life. The story draws you in right from the beginning. You're heart goes out to Tessa and everything she had been through.
The first time Tessa meets the boy next door she feels something other than despair. She feels hope. She feels cared for.
And this book sends you on a emotional rollercoaster of a ride.
And if you haven't read this book yet, go do so now! Still an amazing 5⭐ read and I cannot wait to see what happens to these characters. And cannot wait to see what else this author has to offer.

Synopsis

"Girls like you aren't exactly welcomed at a place like this, so keep your head down and look the other way."

Those were the exact words of my social worker when she dropped me in my newest hellhole, a place for "troubled teens".

I didn't listen, and now I'm on their radar.

They expect me to play along in their games of hierarchy, to fall in line in the social order they've deemed me fit.

Too bad for them, I don't follow rules.
Too bad for me, they're determined to make sure I do.

Inconceivably attractive and treated like kings...these are the boys of Brayshaw High.

And I'm the girl who got in their way.

Cover + Blurb Reveal: The Kiss Thief

THE
KISS THIEF
by L.J. Shen

Release Date: January 9th

Add to Goodreads:

Blurb
They say your first kiss should be earned.

Mine was stolen by a devil in a masquerade mask under the black Chicago sky.

They say the vows you take on your wedding day are sacred.

Mine were broken before we left church.

They say your heart only beats for one man.

Mine split and bled for two rivals who fought for it until the bitter end.

I was promised to Angelo Bandini, the heir to one of the most powerful families in the Chicago Outfit.

Then taken by Senator Wolfe Keaton, who held my father’s sins over his head to force me into marriage.

They say that all great love stories have a happy ending.

I, Francesca Rossi, found myself erasing and rewriting mine until the very last chapter.

One kiss.

Two men.

Three lives.

Entwined together.

And somewhere between these two men, I had to find my forever.
