Excerpt

“How good are you at keeping secrets, Lenora Astalis?” His voice wrapped around my neck like a noose.
I wanted to cough. I needed to cough. He terrified me. I hated him with the heat and passion of a thousand blazing suns. He made me feel like a scaredy cat and a snitch.
“Oh, yes. If you’re coward enough to pretend you’re asleep, you’re good enough to keep a secret. That’s the thing about you, Astalis. I can smash you into dust and watch your grains dance at my feet. My little circus monkey.”
I might’ve hated Vaughn, but I hated myself more for not standing up to him. For not opening my eyes and spitting in his face. Clawing his unnaturally blue eyes out. Taunting him back for all the times he’d taunted all of us at Carlisle Prep.
“By the way, your eyelids are moving,” he said drily, chuckling.
He straightened up, his finger making a brief stop at the base of my spine. He snapped his fingers, making a breaking sound, and I nearly jumped out of my skin, letting out a gasp. I squeezed my eyes tighter, still pretending to sleep.
He laughed.
The bastard laughed.
Was he sparing me for the time being? Was he going to check in on me from now on? Retaliate if I opened my mouth? He was so unpredictable. I wasn’t sure what my life would look like in the morning.

I am still at a loss of words for this book. It slayed me.
Vaughn Spencer is known as an Angry God. He's legendary in Todos Santos. He always has a different girl every weekend, breaks hearts, and noses, and torments Lenora as soon as her feet touch California soil. But she isn't the same girl he once knew, and tried to kill. She now fights back, sinking more than just her claws into him.
She never thought he would follow her back to her home turf and ancient castle outside of London. A fellow intern, a prodigal sculptor. And a bloody genius. But Lenora won't be beaten so easily. Vaughn tries to kill the ghosts of his past, even if it means cutting down everyone who stands in his way. Including Lenora.
Vaughn slashed his way into my heart. And may have stolen top spot of L.J.'s heroes away from his dad Vicious. I mean, on one hand we see a whole other side with Daddy Vicious - and Hawt Daymn! I love me some Vicious. But Vaughn. My broken prince, and Angry God. His story damn near broke me.
I was a bit weary going in with the trigger warning- don't get me wrong I love a good Dark romance from time to time, but I can also be triggered once in awhile thanks to my past. And sometimes, the past digs it's claws into you when you least expect it to. I understand the broken on a whole other level. So I went in weary, telling myself I would stop if I needed to. But I devoured this book, and ate up the words, paragraphs and chapters. I fell in love with Vaughn. For more than just his brokenness but his beautiful soul. For his vicousness. For his heartbreaking story. For his relationship with Lenora. For Lenora herself. What she had been through. Her armor and sass. For standing up to the Vaughn Spencer. Her music and books. For being unapologetically herself. For Vaughn's parents and their love for him. For protective Daddy Vicious (who has been a favorite for years and may actually be dethroned by his son!) To his sweet mother Emilia.
I may never be able to express how this book embedded into my soul. But I absolutely loved the story. Yes, there is a trigger warning- because yes it does have some sensitive subjects within the pages and can be dark but it was without a doubt an extraordinary read. It was everything I didn't know I needed. Vaughn intrigued me a long time ago- even before All Saints High was being considered. And I needed his story like I needed my next breath. And now that it's over, I'm sitting here wondering "where do I go from here?" I already know a book hangover is following this amazing but devastating story. But like an addict I can already assure you I will be driving back in and rereading this book again and again for may years to come! 5 Godly ⭐s out of 5⭐.

ICYMI: Release Blitz: Always Yours

ALWAYS YOURS
Liam & Madelyn Duet Book 2
By Kennedy Fox
Release Date: February 18

Rehearsals, leotards, and textbooks—that was my life.

Dancing is all I’ve ever known, but when Liam’s problems turn everything upside down, I’m thrust into a world I know nothing about. Secrets and betrayal changed the man I’ve fallen for and he isn’t who I thought he was. Regardless, Liam is all I’ve ever wanted and though I’m struggling with my emotions, deep down I’d do anything for him.

When Liam admitted his true feelings, things finally fell into place. Now they’re falling apart. Saving our relationship is his top priority, but keeping him alive is mine. Corruption and power are their game and Liam is nothing more than a pawn. Playing by the rules won’t end well, but I can’t let him fight alone this time.

Our happily ever after is so close I can taste it, but then it quickly crashes and burns, threatening to destroy us. Giving up on the love of my life isn’t an option, but in the end I might not be able to save him.

ALWAYS YOURS is a slow-burn, intense romance wrapped up in a suspenseful beautiful love story. It's book 2 in the Liam & Madelyn duet and must be read in order.

Review:

Sorry this review is late, I have been sick the past few days, yet again. Joys of having a weaker immune system than most and having a youngin' in school (Pre-K).
But here we go!
Always Mine MUST be read first!!
I have been dying to get my hands on this book with the way Always Mine ended- Kennedy Fox are the Queen's of cliffhangers. But, now I don't know what to do with myself. Always Yours isn't just the ending of Liam & Maddie's duet BUT the ending of the Roommate's series.
Liam and Maddie's relationship was a slow-burn filled with angst, suspense, and danger. When Liam finds himself in trouble Maddie wants nothing more than to help keep Liam alive.
I seriously love Liam and Maddie together, and their love for one another. I was on the edge of my seat wanting to know how everything played out.  If you love suspense, angst and slow burn romances than this is the one for you! 4.5 beautiful ⭐s out of 5 ⭐.

Review: the Queen of Nothing

Title: the Queen of Nothing
Series: the Folk of Air
Author: Holly Black
Release Date: Nov 19, 2019

He will be destruction of the crown and the ruination of the throne.
Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold onto. Jude learned this lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power.
Now as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is powerless and left reeling from Cardan’s betrayal. She bides her time determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her deceptive twin sister, Taryn, whose mortal life is in peril.
Jude must risk venturing back into the treacherous Faerie Court, and confront her lingering feelings for Cardan, if she wishes to save her sister. But Elfhame is not as she left it. War is brewing. As Jude slips deep within enemy lines she becomes ensnared in the conflict’s bloody politics.
And, when a dormant yet powerful curse is unleashed, panic spreads throughout the land, forcing her to choose between her ambition and her humanity…

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black, comes the highly anticipated and jaw-dropping finale to The Folk of the Air trilogy.

So I have had this book since November and have finally gotten around to reading it! It is the third book in the Folk of Air trilogy and they must be read in order!

Queen of Nothing follows Jude's story after the ending of the Wicked King.
Jude has been exiled after she released her hold on the Wicked King, Cardan in exchange for immeasurable power. Now she is powerless and left reeling after Cardan's betrayal. But she is determined to reclaim everything. And opportunity strikes when her twin sister Taryn's life is on the line. Jude must risk it all venturing back into the treacherous Fairies Court, and confront her feelings for Cardan. But War is also brewing on the horizon. And when a dormant but powerful curse has been unleashed and panic spreads across the lands, Jude must decide between her ambition for power and her humanity...

I loved the Cruel Prince and the Wicked King and was on the edge of my seat as I impatiently waited for the release of the Queen of Nothing. I needed answers. I loved the not being able to predict what was going to happen next. From Jude trying to figure out her feelings for Cardan, to war, and curses. To magic, power, and family. This book has a little bit of everything for those who love fairies and fantasy.

I loved Cardan since the very beginning and loved him still throughout this book. Cardan was still cruel and wicked but also so much more. I was a little disappointed in Jude for not finding a way out of her exile alone. And the ending felt a little bit like a let down. I am glad everyone survived but felt that there should have maybe been at least one casualty on the good side considering the war AND the curse. It also felt a little rushed.
But otherwise I loved the book, and the conclusion to such a fantastic series! 4.5 wicked ⭐'s out of 5⭐.

Excerpt:

“Must be nice to have family members who own a bar and a bakery.” I inch a little closer. “My brother owns his own vet clinic. I get a family discount on wormer.”
Dean laughs, and it rumbles right through me. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a laugh I can describe as sexy before, but everything about this man is turning me on.
“It is nice getting free food and drinks.”
“I bet. Though I’d probably weigh five hundred pounds after a month of all that free food.”
Dean grabs a menu and hands it to me. “The house pretzel with cheese is better than the fries.”
“That does sound good. It’s not too late to order food?”
He shakes his head. “The kitchen is open until ten.”
“Good. I feel bad when it’s way too close to closing time.”
“That’s very considerate of you.”
“I worked in retail in college.” I give the menu one more glance and decide on the soft pretzel and cheese. “It was irritating when people came in right before closing.”
“I try not to go anywhere if it’s within fifteen minutes of closing, unless it’s my sister-in-law’s bakery. Then I’ll go in a minute before and order whatever takes the longest to make.”
I laugh and meet his eyes, feeling another rush of heat go through me.
“I’m kidding,” he says. “And she’d probably tell me to get the fuck out anyway.”
“Oh, I would too.”
“So…where did you go to college?”
Shit. I have no idea of the names of any Canadian colleges. “The, uh, Central University of…of…” Canada is divided into territories, right? “…of the Northern Territory.”
“Never heard of it,” he says right as I realize my so-called college would be abbreviated to CUNT.
Oh my fucking gosh. If I were to drop dead right now, the universe would probably be doing me a favor.
“It’s a small school. Private too. And girls only.” Just pick up the shovel, Rory, you’re doing a good job digging yourself a hole to crawl in. “Do you come here often?” I blurt, needing to change the subject.
“If I say yes it makes me sound pathetic, but since my brothers own the place, we all come here to hang out.”
I smile. “It’s nice you like being with your brothers.”
“They can be assholes, but for the most part, they’re good guys,” he laughs. “And the free food and drinks don’t hurt.”
I feel my phone vibrating with a text. “Excuse me,” I say as I dig it out of my little purse. It’s Lennon, reminding me not to leave my drink on the bar when I turn away.
“That wouldn’t be your boyfriend, would it?” Dean asks, doing a good job of looking not too interested as he makes sure I’m single.
“No, it’s my cousin.” I quickly reply that I’m always careful and put my phone back done. “And I’m guessing you don’t have one either?”
“A boyfriend?” Dean gives me a smartass smirk. “Not at the moment.” He finishes his drink and moves his stool a little closer when a new song comes on, base loudly thumping around us.
