Review: Crave Thy Neighbor

Title: Crave Thy Neighbor

Series: Roommate Romps

Author: Teagan Hunter

Release Date: April 8th

Don’t fall for your roommate…especially when it’s only temporary.

Nolan Brooks is off limits.
Sure, he’s insanely attractive and funny and I might have almost gone home with him one night to relieve a little stress.
Big deal.

It was all just a momentary lapse in judgment…just like the kiss we shared.

He’s my temporary roommate while I wait for my new apartment to be ready. That’s it.
He’s doesn’t do relationships, and he doesn’t do attachments.

So what if I have a crush on him? We’ll only be there for two months.
Surely I can survive that long.

When Maya is in a jam, she needs a temporary roommate. One who is off limits. It doesn't matter that she almost accidentally gone home with him before she knew who he was. It doesn't matter that he is funny and insanely attractive. Or that they kissed. He is off limits. And their rooming together is temporary until Maya can get her own place. He doesn't do relationships or attachments. Maya may have a crush on him, but it's just two months and surely she could survive that time together... Right?

I loved this book. It was light, cute, and funny. After both my daughter and me being sick for the past couple days this book was exactly what I needed. I loved Maya & Nolan's story. I loved the back and forth between the characters, and enjoyed the single parent trope. And I loved seeing some of the past characters from the roommate Romps series again. I always look forward to reading Teagan's books, because they always bring a smile to my face and make me swoon. 5 ⭐ out of 5 ⭐.

Review: Badly Behaved

Title: Badly Behaved

Author: Megan Brandy

Release Date: April 7th

I’m a Monet.

A chameleon.

𝘐’𝘮 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘐 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦.

And what I must be is a flawless daughter, a skilled socialite, and the perfect prize to the man who signed along the dotted line.

Not that I’m complaining.

I’m all for a contractual agreement, a quick and clean catapult into the next phase of rich girl life. One that takes little thought, less effort, and zero devotion.

It’s exactly what I want.

An impassive life.

A calculated future.

Or, it was until the lights went out, darkness took over, and for the first time ever, I came alive.

But everyone knows what thrives in the night burns in the light and flames were among us.

There is no escape.

No turning back.

No ending within my control.

My mother always says our choices determine our consequences.

𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘩𝘦’𝘴 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵.

Oh My WOW!
Ok so I am sick so I am sorry if this is incoherent ramblings of someone who is nearly passed out on cold medicine and insanely tired for lack of sleep & taking care of my mini who is also sick- thanks fiance for bringing it home 😒😂😂
But Oh My WOW! I have no idea what else to say. I am at a loss for words. And also, this is best to go in blind to get a feel for and expiereince everything along with the characters.
Jameson Monet is her mother's daughter. She is exactly what her mother molded her to be. A skilled socialite who smiles never falters. And the perfect prize for the man who signed on the dotted line. But Jameson isn't complaining because a future where she doesn't have to think about what comes next is exactly what she wanted. Or so she thought.
But one night when the lights go out, Jameson comes alive. And no there is no going back, no escape, and her perfectly calculated future is out of her control.
Honestly, I loved loved loved this book. It was the perfect book to pass the day away, and ease my suffering just a little less.
I loved Jameson and felt for her perfectly crafted plan. She had everything she could ever want laid upon her feet, and yet... It was more than she could have ever asked for.
So when the darkness takes over, threatening to undo her future that has been calculated for her, she comes alive for the first time. This story was sooo much more than I was expecting- and Megan hit it out of the park. It had me gasping one minute and crying the next. It had me swooning one minute and going Nancy Drew the next trying to piece the clues together. There is definitely more than meets the eye with these characters, and I fell in love with not one, not two, but 4 characters, including Jameson, but I will leave you to figure out who until you read this book 😉 If you live for the drama of the high socialites, and have yearned for something more then this book is for you. It's not your average boy meets girl, but sprinkled with scandal, and secrets and love. It doesn't fit well in one catagory or another but instead walks a fine line between them, dancing in the shadows. It may have been unconventional but I loved every second of it. 5 "I did not see that coming!" ⭐ Out of 5 ⭐.

Review: Nightfall

Title: Nightfall

Series: the Grim Gate series

Author: Emily Goodwin

Release Date: March 30

If you have a ghost problem, who you gonna call?

Not me. Seriously.

Been there, done that, and the short time I worked as a professional medium was nothing like what you see on TV. Things are way too heavy when you’re talking to actual ghosts, and I’m pretty sure I’m the first and only person to be fired from what turned out to be a string of con-artists and fake psychics. That’s life, and after twenty-four years of being able to see and hear spirits, I’ve grown used to it.

But when demonic bounty hunters start coming after me, I realize that maybe there’s more to me than being a medium…that maybe my entire life has been nothing but fabricated memories and lies.

Right as everything is unraveling around me, I meet Ethan. I’m as drawn to him as much as he scares me, and there’s no denying the darkness hiding in his hazel eyes. He knows more about my powers than I do and can help me, yet I can’t ignore how the timing of our meeting is too perfect for a mere coincidence.

As the demons close in, I’m forced to make a choice: trust Ethan or face the demons alone. One is certainly more dangerous than the other, and if I don’t choose correctly, it will cost me everything…including my heart.

Oh, my goodness!! I just finished Nightfall by Emily Goodwin!! It is a spin off series of the Thorne Hill series- you don't need to read it, but i definitely recommend it.

Nightfall follows Anora, who is a medium. She can see ghosts. But when demonic bounty hunters start coming after Anora, she had more than a few spirits to worry about. Her whole life may very well be a lie.

Just as Anora's life is unraveling around her, she meets Ethan, who knows even more about her powers then she does. But is it mere chance, or is the timing of their meeting more than just coincidence?

As the demons are closing in, Anora is forced to choose to either trust Ethan or face the demons alone. If she doesn't choose correctly, it could cost her everything.

I seriously loved this book. It takes place in the same world as the Thorne Hill series, with magic and vampires, ghosts and demon hunters.

Anora has always been deemed weird- but seeing and talking to ghosts that others can't see or believe in will do that. Despite it all she didn't let it bother her too much. She tried her best to learn how to deal. But a chance meeting with Ethan make her realize that she isn't so alone and there are scarier things to worry about then a few ghosts.

Ethan is definitely handsome, but also dangerous. And the timing of their chance encounter is more than just coincidence. Anora has to decide if she trusts Ethan, and quick because her life may very well rest on the decision to do so. When her life has been nothing but secrets and lies, who can Anora trust?

I loved going on the journey with Anora in her discovering the truth about herself and in her quest to find answers. I loved the action, adventure and romance throughout this book. I loved Anora & Ethan, and cannot wait to see where the story takes us! 5⭐ out of 5⭐.

Review: a Court of Silver Flames

Title: a Court of Silver Flames

Series: ACOTAR series

Author: Sarah J Maas

Release Date: February 16

Blurb:

Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it.

The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other.

Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms. And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts.

Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other's arms.

I don't even know where to begin.
I pre-ordered this book because I had to have it. I have the ACOTAR upon my shelf, and loved them. And although Nesta wasn't my favorite character, after reading that bonus chapter I wanted to see where her and Cassian would go, and Nesta's journey after the ACOTAR books.
But then I stalled. I took my time getting to the book. As much as I had to have it... I didn't pick it up at first. Again, Nesta wasn't my favorite- I didn't hate her but I didn't love her either. I didn't really care what happened to her. She was cruel.
I had time between books so I decided to finally pick this one up. And let me just say... I fell in love with it. With Nesta's journey. With her and Cassian's story. And, with her herself. I didn't realize I would like her so much after everything she has done. But I do.
I also loved seeing all the characters from the inner circle- and the new characters as well. Loved seeing glimpses of the ones we know and love, and learn about the new characters and get glimpses into their lives and journeys as well.
And the new threats that were pressing down upon them. Can Nesta and the inner circle survive it?
I cannot wait for the next books in this series. I love it all. The fantasy, the adventure, the romance, the drama and the emotions that these stories envoke. 5⭐ our of 5⭐.

Review: the Devil Wears Black

Title: the Devil Wears Black

Author: LJ Shen

Release Date: March 9

Maddie Goldbloom stitched up a plan to ensure everything in her life was perfect—from a career in fashion to a chic NYC apartment to a pediatrician boyfriend.

When her ex, Chase Black, storms back into her life with an outrageous request, her immediate reaction is to refuse him. But he only wants to fulfill his father’s last wish. So even though he’s the man who broke her heart, playing his fiancée shouldn’t be hard, especially if it means she gets to watch the arrogant devil squirm a bit.

What ensues is a chain of events that detonates Maddie’s life—and when Chase’s walls come down, they both are forced to face reality.

They say keep your enemies close. But what if your enemy is also the man you love?

"If it doesn't make you grow or blossom- let it go."

Maddie has been making sure her whole life is perfect- everything from her career, to NYC apartment, down to her boyfriend. But what she didn't account for was her ex, Chase walking back into her life, with a crazy request, to fulfil his father's last wish. It shouldn't be too hard to fake an engagement with the hottest, richest bachelor in NYC, even if he is an arrogant jerk. But the events that follow detonate their lives, forcing them to face reality.

So, the Devil Wears Black is a cross between Dirty Headlines, The Hunter and something else entirely. It's funny, touching and brings out emotion, but this book seems slightly off from other of LJ's works. I can't quite put my finger on it. But, I enjoyed it thoroughly. It still had the alpha-hole bad boy we all love.

Chase Black is a handsome, rich, successful, but arrogant, sarcastic and cold. He doesn't do real. He lives for his business and his family. But when bad news strikes, he strolls back into Maddie's life- with a not-so-fully thought-through plan in mind- to fake an engagement with her for his family's sake, how could Maddie say no?

Maddie is known as a Martyr, she will do anything for anyone- a fact that Chase knew. But, she has grown more of a backbone since they were last together- more assertive and putting Chase in his place when it called for it. She also wore quirky clothes, and was a florists' daughter. But she was different from anyone else that Chase knew, and despite her differences, something about her drew him in.

They bantered and argued over everything. Chase cared too little about anything that wasn't himself, his family or his business. Maddie cared too much. Yet, what they had worked together. It wasn't perfect by any means.

I absolutely loved this story. It was funny and light hearted when it came to Maddie and Chase but also emotional and heart wrenching. I laughed and cried. It was well balanced between the two. I loved Maddie- and her growth. How despite everything she learned to stand up for and love herself. I loved Chase and his alphahole ways. A great spring read. 4.5 ⭐ out of 5 ⭐

PS- Chase is the police officer paw patrol. Marshal is the firefighter. That bothered me. I know bc of my daughter's excessive collection of paw patrol toys. For someone (Chase) who claims to know everything... He got one thing wrong 😂😂

Review: the Touch Of a Villain

Title: The Touch Of A Villain

Series: the Boys of Clermont Bay

Author: Holly Renee

Release Date: March 18, 2021

BLURB:

𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙜. 𝙒𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝𝙮. 𝙀𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙚. 𝙍𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙤𝙮𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙡𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙩 𝘽𝙖𝙮 𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙛 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙙𝙤𝙢.

And Beck Clermont controlled them all.

He was arrogant and conceited, and from the moment I met him, he had made up his mind about me.

Dangerously handsome and wickedly cruel, he had no intention of letting me spend my senior year under the radar.

The secrets of old money ran deep, and even though I barely knew them, the sins of my family had put a target on my back.

He was a hurricane, and I was unprepared for the storm.

His touch fatal. His impact irreparable.

There was no negotiation.

He stole my heart. Without warning, without permission.

𝙃𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙢𝙮, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙞𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙥 𝙢𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙛𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙑𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙣.

Where do I even begin with this book?

First off the title, cover, and blurb drew me in and I just had to know more about the boys of Clermont Bay. The boys of Clermont Bay were young, wealthy and ruthless. And Beck Clermont ruled them all. The moment Josie met him he was arrogant and conceited, and he made up his mind about Josie before he even knew anything about her. Secrets between the families ran deep, and Josie's family had put a target on her back. Beck may have been dangerously handsome, but he was also cruel and would stop at nothing until he got what he wanted. He was the enemy, but it didn't stop Josie from falling for his touch anyways.

I love a good enemies to lovers and bully romance and boy did this book deliever. It was a delicious slow burn between the characters. The hate and tension palpable, the angst off the charts. There are secrets and lies between the wealthy elite, and Josie was thrusted into the middle of everything unprepared.

I loved Beck. He was cruel to Josie, and would stop at nothing until he got exactly what he wanted, without regard to what anyone else said or did.

Josie may not have been the strongest, but she was going through stuff that would stop a lesser person. She was also thrown into a town, and world she knew nothing about, unprepared for everything. She held her own as best as she could, despite the odds stacked against her.

I loved the angst, and drama and build up between the characters and the story. And it definitely had it's steamy moments. I cannot wait for the next book, to see what the Boys of Clemont Bay have in store next. 4⭐ out of 5⭐.

Review: Make You Beg

Title: Make You Beg

Author: Shantel Tessier

Release Date: March 12

To the world, she’s known as Henley Greene.

To me, she’s a little doll— a toy to be played with and tossed to the side once no longer wanted.

She will pay for her betrayal however I deem necessary.

Imagine living in a constant nightmare where you have no control. Running from someone or something, you can hear him getting closer and feel his breath on your neck. You know that no matter what you do, he’s going to get you.
He will win.
But I don’t have just one. I have four.
Ryan Scout, Van Rellik, Dax Monroe, and Grayson Law are the Reapers of Westbrook High, my ex-best friends, and now my biggest enemies. They run the school and own this town. They want nothing more than to make me pay for what I saw that night at Death Valley. A sick and twisted game that leaves me dirty and bruised with torn clothing.
So how did I fall in love with one?
I was raised to fear the dark side, but he showed me it was in the dark where the truth came to light. He played with me until my body craved his touch. I was going to prove I could be his most trusted servant in every form of the word. Whether kneeling before him or lying on my back, my sole purpose in life was to be his.
But when you’re a toy everyone likes to play with, you’re bound to end up broken.

Make You Beg: A Dark Bully Romance was previously published in the Bully Me: Class of 2020 Anthology but has now been reworked and expanded into a new full-length story.

"Little doll, little doll come out and play."
Henley was once best friends with the reapers, but that all changed the night she seen something, and said something that she can't take back. Now, the Reapers- Dax, Law, Scout, and Rellik- will have their revenge and turn Henley into a pretty broken toy, one that they can play with however they see fit.
Henley's life went from being perfect to a nightmare after a night at Death Valley. A nightmare that she can't run from or wake up from. Now she is at the Mercy of the Reapers, the ruthless boys who run the school and town. Henley is thrust into a world of darkness, and left wanting and craving the touch of the Reapers.
I loved this book. I loved the dark twists and turns and left in the unknown and wanting more. More from the Reapers.
Henley was strong, standing up for what she believed is right, despite being turned on, not only by the town, but her best friends. She was alone. Until they seeked her out, planning their revenge. The only thing she could do, was take whatever they thrown her way, like a good little doll.
The Reapers were cold, calculated, and ruthless. They can make your life hell without touching you, and once you are in their sights, there is no where left to run.
This book was sexy as sin, and had MFM and BDSM elements to it. It was a dark high school bully romance. And I absolutely loved it. Loved the Reapers, and everything this story had to offer. This book kept you on the edge of your seat, with secrets lies, and so much more, having you question everything you think you may know. I couldn't get enough of Law, Dax, Scout, and Rellik. 5⭐ out of 5⭐.
