Review: Maria Before Us

Title: Maria Before Us

Series: Broken Series

Author: Ellie Messe

Release Date: 2019

Eight days since I lost them both in a car accident.

Seven nights I’ve held my nephew as he relives the crash he survived.

Six casseroles sit on the kitchen counter from neighbors who don’t actually care.

Five fingers drum against the wooden grain to my right.

Four bodies try to ignore the growing tension in the room.

Three years since I’ve seen the man who’s almost here.

Two car doors shut.

One doorknob twists.

This was me Before Us.

**PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A NOVELLA**
NOVELLA 1/6
Due to adult content this novella is 18+

Wow.

This book follows Maria & Josh- Parker & Drew's aunt & uncle whom you meet in Broken & takes place before. You get a glimpse into Maria's life before Arizona, a glimpse at Josh and Maria's history, a glimpse at the grief, pain and heart ache. Maria lost her sister and brother-in-law, Josh lost his brother and sister-in-law, and Parker and Drew lost their parents.

This story may have been short, but I loved getting to see a look into Josh & Maria before they moved to Arizona. It made my heart constrict and I cried. It is best to read after Broken & Famished - where you meet Josh, Maria, Parker & Drew & see everyone, & know what happened- but can be read as a prequel as well. I loved it & wished there was more- not just with Josh and Maria's story, but everyone else's as well. I don't want to say goodbye to these characters. 5⭐ out of 5⭐.

Review: Famished Part 2

Title: Famished Part 2

Series: Broken Series

Author: Ellie Messe

Release Date: May 2019

I’m a coward.

I just wanted to forget.
I just wanted an escape from reality.
I didn’t ask for any of this.

Hiding the truth just might kill me, but how can I come clean when everything around me is so twisted?

Funerals, weddings, secrets…between them all, I’m losing myself. I’m not even sure I know who I am anymore.

I missed the memo where families are built on lies.
The truth is coming out, and everything is about to hit the f*cking fan.

Due to mature content, recommended 18+

Oh my, wow! Where do I even begin?!

I seriously love this book/s. I get why it was split into to, but REALLY?! That ending on book one got me all kinds of messed up. Oh and as if the anxiety and emotions stopped there? Nope they continue right through to book 2 (YES, you MUST read these books in order from Broken to Famished pt 1 & 2 to understand what is going on, this book picks up where pt 1 left off!)

Never a dull moment with the Hayes brothers and their girls.

Funerals, weddings secrets and lies... Between everything going on, Emma takes the easy route instead of coming clean. It all started with her just wanting an escape and to forget, only to her now being a coward and hiding instead of facing the truth. But with everything so twisted up, there was never a moment... Instead she might just be losing herself.

If it's not one thing, it's something else. Life has been crazy with no sign of slowing down or stopping, everything happening so fast. One misunderstanding could cost him, one wrong move could end him, one secret could save him. Crap is about to hit the fan, and the truth is about to come out, will Drew be ready to hear it?

God. I was a mess after part 1, and definitely needed to read this book to help sooth my anxiety. I absolutely love these characters something fierce, -Not just Drew & Emma but Parker & Haley as well! It was fast paced & definitely had me feeling all kinds of things throughout the book, but I loved it all the same. This story was amazing and I'm an idiot for waiting so damn long to read it, but so glad I did! 5⭐ out of 5⭐

Review: Famished Part 1

Title: Famished Part 1

Series: Broken series

Author: Ellie Messe

Release Date: Dec 2018

Moms a junkie, Dad’s not dead.

After lying to me for the past twenty-one years, Mom got in too deep with her debt and had to call not-dead dad to bail her out. But wait, there’s more; not-dead dad is a biker who thinks he knows what’s best for the daughter he's never met. Agreeing to bail dear mom out for the low, low price of one grown ass adult.
So here I am in some hot as sin city with my junkie mom racking up more debt, living day to day with a needle in her arm without anyone around to make sure she’s bathed or fed. I’m sure Ricky will love the fact his favorite hostage is MIA.
Like I don’t have enough problems I’m trying to deal with.
I just need some no name to make it all go away for a little while.
I don’t need love or romance; I just want to forget.

I’m a hungry man, plain and simple.
I’ve got a bomb ass family, great job, and a f*ckable face.
Everything is perfect on the outside; it’s the inside that’s f*cked up.
People die, relationships fall apart, good people turn ugly, and others leave you in the dust. That’s life.
The only problem is when shit gets too dark, and you’re no longer able to lose yourself between some girls thighs, what the f*ck are you supposed to do?
Like I don’t have enough demons trying to claw free.
I just need to lose myself in some piece of pussy that doesn’t reek of tequila.
I don’t need love, f*ck; I don’t want it. I just want to forget.

Oh my god! What the actual fuuuuuuuuuuu-hell?! 😂😂😂

Ok, so I reread Broken (book 1 in the series) before starting this, and as always I loved it. I have no idea why I waited to read the Famished books - seriously why the hell did I wait?! Either way, this book was amazing & I loved it. Loved the emotions it involved- yes even the god awful anxiety I am in right now over the ending DYING to start on book 2 of Famished. I need answers damn it! 😂😂😂

Anyways, where Broken follows Haley & Parker, Famished follows Emma & Drew.

Drew is Parker's brother & Haley's best friend & there IS some cross over with Broken & Famished (so yes read Broken first!)

Emma realizes her father isn't dead when he shows up on her doorstep to drag her away from the only life she has known. New city with people she barely knows she has to make due- and looks for a new place to stay.

Drew is in need of a roommate. Someone to chase the silence away. He may laugh and joke and bring women home but it's a front, a coping mechanism to keep his demons away. But they have been more persistent then ever, especially with everything that has been going on with his best friend.

So when Drew and Emma make up an agreement to be more than just roommates, but to exclusively sleep together, they both take it, both needing the chance to get lost in each other & forget their lives. Neither wants romance, love, or more, but what happens when feelings come in to play?

God... I'm a mess. I absolutely loved this book, loved Drew and Emma and Definitely need more! I need more of these characters, this story & cannot wait to dive into Part 2! Seriously these characters were amazing & I love being able to relate to them. My heart goes out to Drew, and it was nearly beating out of my chest & this book had me crying in some parts. I need to know what happens next with everyone- not just Drew & Emma but every freaking one of these characters- & this story. I have no idea what the heck I was so scared of (ok maybe THAT ending was what I Feared 😂😂) & why I didn't read this book when it first came out. I am beating myself up for waiting so long to get to Drew's story but I absolutely loved it. 5⭐ out of 5⭐.

Review: Victory at Prescott High

Title: Victory At Prescott High

Series: The Havoc Boys

Author: C.M. Stunich

Release Date: Nov 2020

There's one heart you can’t break at Prescott High, not unless you’re one of them.
The Havoc Boys.
They’re my family, my redemption, and my future.

Victory at Prescott High has always meant escape.
Once upon a time, that meant graduation and a one-way ticket out of town.
But everything is different now.

This year, my life changed in irrevocable ways.
The Havoc Boys have a Havoc Girl; they have a queen who wears her crown with pride.
I’ll need every ounce of strength I possess to dig us out of an early grave.

One last chance; one more fight.
If there really are happy endings for people from my side of the tracks, then we’ll find one.
Or else we’ll go down together in a hail of gunfire.

Blood in, blood out.
Always.

VICTORY AT PRESCOTT HIGH is a 150,000 word mature high school/new adult romance with enemies-to-lovers/love-hate themes. It has brief flashbacks of past bullying incidents as well as foul language and sexual scenes; any sex featured is consensual. This is a reverse harem novel, meaning the main character has more than one love interest. This is book five of five in the series.

So... That just happened. The book, the series, is over & time to say goodbye to these characters & this story.

As a whole the series was good. It was ok. Often times I felt that there may have been a little more filler then needed, like how many times the character says certain things (Ebon, ebon, ebon), or how a few things were put in there to tie it up together in a bow. And while this wasn't my favorite series, or story, I enjoyed the crazy ride and fell in love with some of these characters.

Bernadette's life changed irrevocably when she uttered Havoc. She became a Havoc girl, a queen and now has a family in Havoc with her boys. Working through her list, and all the other problems, like the GMP that is after them- everything seems to be connected. It all comes back to her, to Havoc.

Victor, Hael, Aaron, Oscar & Callum. All want to love and protect Bernadette. They all get closer then ever, but if something happens to one, they would fall apart, and Havoc wouldn't exist anymore. They need each other for their family to work.

But the end is coming, it is just a matter on if everyone will survive to see it.

This is the heartstopping conclusion of Havoc as we know it.

I enjoyed this while crazy ride with the members of Havoc. I even cried & absolutely love when a book can pull an emotion out of me.

I loved Victor, Oscar, Callum, Hael & Aaron. The Boys of Havoc. All so different- but all have a few things in common. They were drawn together through honesty, truth, & their need to look after Bernadette & they became more than just a gang, but a family.

Bernadette was loud, crazy, and then some. She was strong for everything she had been through, but she never let that completely crush her hopes and dreams. She knew exactly what she wanted & didn't quit until she got it. She was fierce, loyal, and protective of those she loved. She was the heart of Havoc even before she joined them.

4⭐ out of 5⭐. Prescott will never be the same.

Wow, oh wow!

Things are amping up at Prescott High. More than just small town gang wars. Death is on the horizon.

On top of having the gang war, and the list, Havoc has to worry about Vic's mom, the police, the GMP and the VGTF. It may be too much for them to handle.

MAYHEM AT PRESCOTT HIGH is a 117,000 word mature high school/new adult romance with enemies-to-lovers/love-hate themes. It has brief flashbacks of past bullying incidents as well as foul language and sexual scenes; any sex featured is consensual. This is a reverse harem novel, meaning the main character has more than one love interest. This is book three of five in the series.

Well, damn. I'm at a loss and have no idea what to think after the end of this book.

Bernadette is a havoc girl- and the Havoc boys are hers. Her gang, her family, her loves, her life.

Her first love- Arron. Strong, full of light in the dark, looks for happiness wherever he can find it.

Her husband- Victor. Ruthless, brutal, leader of the Havoc Boys. Obsessed with Bernadette.

Her f*ckbuddy- Hael. Always so cool, confident, cocky and sure of himself.

Her confidante- Callum. Filled more than just with broken dreams and promises. Filled with his fierce need to love and protect Bernadette.

Her challenger- Oscar. Good with numbers, calculations, risks. Those come easy. Feelings, and emotions don't. He keeps Bernadette at arm's length.

But just like every single one of them loves Bernadette, she loves each of them in turn. They now have to navigate their new found relationship with one another.

Trouble had been brewing in the halls of Prescott High, trying to back the Havoc Boys into a corner.

But caged animals still have teeth and claws, and bodies will be hitting the floor, as Havoc tries to take back their school, and their city against those who oppose them.

Havoc is the midst of a gang war, fighting tooth and claw on all fronts to rule the underworld of Prescott. They each have a sordid past- forming havoc to give themselves something they never had- a family. They love, care and look out for one another. They may be mosnters- beasts who lurk through the night to take down their opponents but they are much more than just another gang in this fight. I am loving these books, and these characters. All the angst and drama and brutality. It's dark, and bloody. Messy and cruel. 4⭐ out of 5⭐.

There's one gang you don't piss off at Prescott High, not unless you want them to destroy you.
The Havoc Boys.
My enemies turned friends turned lovers.

These boys have never been saints, but this war that's brewing is resurrecting their inner demons.
Once upon a time, I was their target. This time, I'm calling the shots.
Senior year is my year.

This year, I'm going to bring down my enemies.
This year, I'm going to run my tongue along the blade of vengeance and taste blood.
The Havoc Boys are mine, and we were here first.

You don't mess with a Havoc Girl without paying the price.
You don't start a rebellion without a little bloodshed.
My boys and I don't mind using two wrongs to make a right—I just hope our brewing obsession with one another doesn't kill us all first.

CHAOS AT PRESCOTT HIGH is a 150,000 word mature high school/new adult romance with enemies-to-lovers/love-hate themes. It has brief flashbacks of past bullying incidents as well as foul language and sexual scenes; any sex featured is consensual. This is a reverse harem novel, meaning the main character has more than one love interest. This is book two of three in the series.

Wow, what do I even say after this book?

Bernadette is now apart of Havoc, blood in, blood out- that's a life long commitment. But her engagement to Vic isn't the only relationship she has to the havoc boys- they are more than just a gang, they are a family. One that is smack dab in the middle of a war. One that is set on crossing names off Bernadette's list of those who wronged her. But revelations are acknowledged, and bloodshed is made. The Havoc Boys can ruin anything they touch, it's time to find out if they will destroy Bernadette, or will he rise up from the ashes of her former self like a phoenix ready to rule, taking her fate into her own hands.

We learn more- about Bernadette & the five members of Havoc in this book, getting glimpses of each of the guys head, on top of them working to eradicate the list Bernadette presented them with, to the gang wars, planning a wedding and even more piled onto the plates of the Havoc Boys. I absolutely loved getting to see things in their POV, even briefly.

Bernadette is growing into the role that she was pushed into to make a deal with Havoc- she is becoming a Havoc girl, and making her own demands and requests for the group that she will be a part of. She is doing her best to look out for her younger sister, and take care of the names on her list. But she finds herself caring for the boys that will kill for her. But what does it mean, marrying one Havoc boy while belonging to all five?

Victor is the group leader. He isn't often shaking, and rules over the group with an iron fist. He is ruthless and takes no crap. But Bernadette gets under his skin like no other.

Hael is Victors best friend and second. He may have more to deal with besides the gang wars and Bernadette, and not much ruffles his feathers, but he found himself in a precarious position and had to tread lightly to navigate his new predicament.

Oscar is cold, & calculating. He runs the numbers, knows the odds, and makes the plans. But he's just as ruthless, just as Vicious as the rest of the boys and doesn't mind getting his hands dirty for Bernadette.

Callum is lilth and light on his feet, but more than just broken dreams and promises. He can be just as cruel when he needs to be.

Aaron may still have light in his life, in the form of his sister and cousin that he looks after, but he is still a Havoc boy & still apart of the darkness within, still sullied.

Despite how dark and twisted they all are, Bernadette find herself falling in love with each one of them. If only life were a fairy tale and could be so easy.

I cannot wait to grab the next book, and find out what happens next to these characters that I have grown so invested in. I love these dark and twisted, these ruthless and cruel havoc boys. 4⭐ out of 5⭐.

Review: Havoc at Prescott High

Title: Havoc at Prescott High

Series: the Havoc Boys

Author: CM Stunich

Release Date: Nov 2019

There's one word you don't utter at Prescott High, not unless you want them to own you.
H.A.V.O.C.
Hael, Aaron, Victor, Oscar, and Callum.

The Havoc Boys rule the hellhole we call Prescott High.
Once upon a time, they ruled me. For an entire year, I endured their shit.
But senior year is going to be different.

This year, I own them.
I’ve made a pact with the Havoc Boys to get the vengeance I deserve.
Their price? Me. At their beck and call, in their beds, a part of their gang.

Their girl.
A Havoc Girl.
Those dirty, rotten boys are going to get revenge against everyone that’s wronged me—everyone but themselves.

HAVOC AT PRESCOTT HIGH is a 105,000 word mature high school/new adult romance with enemies-to-lovers/love-hate themes. It has brief flashbacks of past bullying incidents as well as foul language and sexual scenes; any sex featured is consensual. This is a reverse harem novel, meaning the main character has more than one love interest. This is book one of three in the series.

So, uh, wow. I'm at a loss, still reeling from what I just read.
Havoc is a dark bully romance- that has bullying, violence & abuse in it- so if those topics trigger you steer clear.
Bernadette had a plan. Step into the halls of Prescott High, call out Havoc, make a deal with the devil's themselves and seek revenge on those who wronged her to try and keep her sister safe.

But at what cost? Once Bernadette strikes the deal, there will be no going back for her or the guys.

They want her to become a havoc girl. Be a part of their gang, and be at their beck and call.

But no office is to high for Bernadette to seek her Vengeance. If a Havoc girl is what they want, a havoc girl is what they'll get.

Get ready to be owned by Hael, Aaron, Victor, Oscar and Callum in the Havoc Boys.

Bernadette had been through too much, reaching her end until she does whatever she must to keep her sister safe from the life she has been subject to. So she calls upon Havoc and strikes a deal with the five devil's to seek her revenge on those who wronged her- everyone except the guys themselves.

Victor is the leader of their group. He has plans for Bernadette - to help him get exactly what he wants, because nothing comes for free. And Bernadette just signed over her life to him. Blood in, blood out.

Aaron is Bernadette's ex from before he joined Havoc. But life messes everyone up in the end, and he needed havoc to keep himself alive.

Hael is Victors best friend and the most easy going. But cross him and you'll find out why you don't mess with Havoc.

Callum is more a mystery than the others. But he still owes his life to Havoc.

Oscar is the brains, but don't underestimate him. He loathes Bernadette, but the feeling is mutual.

Bernadette should hate the boys for what they did to her. But they awaken something in her she didnt think still existed. She should hate them all, but just like she gets under their skin, they get under hers and make her question what she think she knows about them.

I am still at a loss for words, and am reeling after that ending. This book was a crazy adventure from start to finish, with loads of drama, tension and angst. I cannot wait to grab the next book and see what happens next with these psychotic characters. Buckle up because this was a crazy ride, and I need more! 4⭐ out of 5⭐.

Bryce can heal, and make Idols using his gifts, which idols what to take advatage of. But what is the cost of him healing others?
Rufio has been stripped of his powers, but not of his determination. He is still protective of Daisy, his brother and his friends, but powerless to do much.

Review: Hateful Heroes

Title: Hateful Heroes

Series: Gifted Academy

Author: Michelle Hercules

Release Date: March 2020

The impossible has happened. I became the thing that I’ve hated my entire life. Thanks to Bryce’s gift, I’m now an Idol. But I no longer want to see them all destroyed. Thanks to Bryce, Rufio, Morpheus, and Phoenix, the four powerful Idols I’ve fallen in love with, I realize I can’t blame an entire race for the evil doings of a minority.

Being an Idol doesn’t make my existence easier, though. On the contrary, thanks to the rare gift I’ve developed, I’m now wanted dead or alive. Some want to use me as weapon; others want me gone forever.

We’re living in dangerous times, and the only Idols I can trust are my boyfriends. But we need allies because war is coming and we can’t fight in it alone.

Ahhh, I cannot deal with that ending .. I need answers quick!
This book picks up where book 2 left off, and these books must be read in order!
With Daisy's new powers, comes new challenges. On top of the list of people who want her dead only growing, there is a list of people who want to use her for her new-found gifts, and will stop at nothing until they get what they want. Plus now there is a whole new issue with Daisy's relationship with the four Idols that needs mending before it gets out of hand. Daisy and her Idols needs allies with a civil war looming on the horizon, but trust isn't so easily earned, but if they don't act quick, someone close to Daisy could hang in the balance.
Seriously. I am enjoying these books & loving these characters. They are addicting and I cannot wait to see what happens next. I need answers to sooo many questions and need to know what happens to all these characters & then some! 4⭐ out of 5⭐.

Review: Ruthless Idols

Title: Ruthless Idols

Series: Gifted Academy

Author: Michelle Hercules

Release Date: September 2019

I knew being the only Norm at Gifted Academy would be hard and dangerous, but I didn’t expect to be tossed out of a window. Also didn’t expect to be saved by one of the Magnificent Four.

Bryce brought me back from the brink of death, but he did more than heal my broken bones. He weakened my defenses and carved a place in my heart.

He’s not the only one vying for my attention. Rufio, Phoenix, and Morpheus have all changed their attitudes toward me, and recklessly, I want to know where it will lead.

But a complicated romance with four ruthless Idols should be the least of my worries. Powerful players are closing in, getting ready to either use or destroy me. I don’t know which one is worse.

Ruthless Idols picks up right where Wicked Gods left off, and these books must be read in order.
Daisy's feeling for the floor idols becomes complicated, but they are still Idols and she is still a norm. Besides the boundary between their races, how could she possibly trust them after everything?
Rufio may not want to kill her anymore but there is still stuff he isn't telling her.
Bryce may still be the most powerful Idol that Daisy knows but, the more Bryce finds out, the less likely he is inclined to trust Daisy.
Phoenix may have a secret of his own that he doesn't want to get out, but of all the people he confides in, he does so in Daisy- and she wonders if he has an ulterior motive for doing so.
Morpheus' visions and powers are getting more frequent. He may be the only one who hasn't pushed his relationship with Daisy to the next level, but that doesn't mean he doesn't want to.
But Daisy and the four Idols have more pressing issues then just complicated feelings to sort through. Daisy isn't safe, and the more they find out, it seems the less anyone knows of what is happening.
I am still reeling after finishing this book and need to know more! I cannot wait to dive into book 3 and hopefully get more answers to all the questions burning through my mind, and get my fix on these characters, whom I'm falling for myself. These books are addicting and I need more! 4⭐ out of 5⭐.
