๐—•๐—ข๐—ก๐—˜๐—ฆ

I got my name from breaking the bones of a kid who picked on my younger brother, but that’s only where it started.

My black heart craves violence, and being a King gives me plenty of opportunities.

When a friend comes to me for help because someone he loves is in danger, I’m happy to do so. After all, my friends are few, and they are my family.

Once I have her, I do what I have to in order to protect her. She thinks she’s in hell, but this is child’s play compared to what she would have faced.

She’s an innocent through and through and completely off-limits. But that’s not enough to stop me from doing what I do best—taking what’s mine.

๐— ๐—œ๐—”

I was born into a deadly Mafia family, yet I’m a nobody. To the world, I don’t exist.

Shuffled from Vegas as a child and sent to Italy for my protection, I became invisible. Until they found a use for me. Now I’m a card my father can play. A chance to cash in on the family name to the highest bidder.

Taken from my home, I’m sold to a King. His hard blue eyes take no prisoners. He’s just another pretty face to hide the evil and in no way my savior.

Now I know what hell looks like because I’m living it. But just when I think I can finally be free, it all comes crashing down, and the King I thought would end me is the only one who can save me.

All I wanted was to be somebody, but now I wish I’d stayed the nobody.

Oh My Gahhhhh!!!

I have been anticipating this book for YEARS. It's about Bones MF'in Reed. I've been in love with him since I first seen his name in the Dark Kingdoms pages and I couldn't wait to read his story.

Bones is one of the Four King's who runs Kingdom in Las Vegas. He's ruthless, - he does whatever he needs to do to get the job done.

So when a friend comes to him to help because someone he loves is in danger, he does so without question. And once he has her he will do whatever he needs to do to protect her.

Mia was born into a Mafia family- but she was born to be no one. Born to be used for her father's gain. Someone her father can use to cash in on- sold to the biggest bidder- a King. Now living in hell, the only person who could save her, is the King she thought would end her.

I LOVED Bones story. It wasn't what I expected. Bones was dark and ruthless, take no prisoners. Mia was innocent, but wanted more from her life. Their lives came crashing together when Bones was asked to help a friend - and he bidded on Mia. I loved the Dark Kingdom world, these stories & characters, their world is everything.

Review: The Dark Kingdom series (Reread)

Title: Code of Silence

Series: The Dark Kingdom

Author: Shantel Tessier

Release Date: January 2020

A Mafia Romance

Dangerous and feared.

Those words describe my future husband. Who just so happens to also be my ex-boyfriend.

It’s complicated. Two years ago, he broke my heart when he left me to do his father’s bidding. After months of crying, I finally accepted he was gone and wasn’t going to look back. That maybe he’d never loved me at all. I never wanted to see Luca again.

Now a cruel twist of fate has signed me over to him in a heartless deal. I’m his. He thinks he did me a favor, but I feel like I’ve been given a death sentence. He doesn't want to get married because he still loves me. No, he did it for money. More power.

I’m going to be a mafia wife. And there’s only one way out of it. Death.

But as it turns out, someone else doesn’t want me to marry the ruthless Luca Bianchi. And if he has his way, I’ll see that early grave.

Due to mature content and themes this book is recommended for readers aged eighteen and over. Code of Silence is an arranged marriage and a complete standalone. This novel may contain triggers.

So to prepare for the release of Bones, I thought I would reread the whole Dark Kingdom series. And I love it just as much as I have before.

Code of Silence is a mafia romance that follows Haven and Luca. They dated throughout college, but broke up when Luca lied and left Haven alone. But now, two years later, he is back and Haven is now signed over to him to soon be married. She will soon be a mafia wife to one of the most feared and dangerous men in Las Vegas, and the only way out is death.

But Haven isn't the only person who doesn't want the wedding to happen. And if they get their way, Haven may see that early grave after all.

I love Shantel's work, and this is no different. I loved Luca & Haven's relationship. The emotions and angst between them, and the danger and suspense of the world around them. I couldn't put the book down, and I can't wait to continue on with the Dark akingsim books, again, and look forward to Bone's story.

If you love mafia romances or arranged marriage romances than you need to pick up this book.

Title: Titan
Series: the Dark Kingdom
Author: Shantel Tessier
Release Date: May 2020

TITAN
I know I have a black soul. Bloodshed and danger are what I live for.
A King is supposed to rule his Kingdom using any means necessary to demand respect.
I’m not a weak man… A King kneels to no one.
I’ve only ever cared about one other person in my life, but the thing is, she never belonged to me. And before I could tell her how I felt, she left.
Now she’s returned, needing someone to save her.
Emilee York was always meant to be mine, and I’ll see to it that happens. I always get what I want, even if that means I have to take it.
And she’s no different. She’ll be my queen, one way or the other.

EMILEE
When I left Sin City behind me, I had no plans to return. I avoided everyone, even my friends, to stay in my bubble. I’ve always been the kind to pull away and run when things get difficult.
But one phone call changed everything, and I was racing back. If only I had known what was waiting for me.
Titan reappeared like a ghost haunting me.
One look and I knew he recognized me. I never forgot him or what we shared. Those feelings that no one else knew existed between us.
I ignored them back then, but now they are more intense than ever.
“Get on your knees…” He demanded I kneel for him.
I tried to act like he didn’t affect me, but he knew. He remembered the way I reacted when he would touch me. And just like he was taught to do—he used my weaknesses against me.
He staked his claim, and I became his queen to use how he saw fit.
What makes it worse is that I crave him, and when I kneeled, it was willingly.
But was it for nothing?

Titan is one of the four Kings who rule over Kingdom, in the heart of Las Vegas. Danger and Bloodshed is what he lives for. And a King will use any means necessary to demand respect. Show no weakness. Kneel for no one. Not even Emilee York, the one girl who he actually cared about. She was never his to begin with. But now that she's back in town, Titan will make sure that she becomes his queen, one way or another.

Emilee had no plans of returning back to the city, but one phone call has her racing back. And just like a ghost from her past, haunting her, Titan appears back in her life, and with just one look, she knows he recognized her. She never forgot him, or what she shared. Or the feelings she had. She may have ignored him back then, but now that he rules over the city, it's harder then ever.

"Get on your knees..." He demanded of her. And just like he was taught to do, he used her weaknesses against her. He staked his claim, and she became his queen as he saw fit. Emilee kneeled willingly, but was it all for nothing?

Oh my goodness! I don't even know where to begin!!

I loved Titan. He is powerful, rich, and ruthless. He has had feelings for Emilee for years but couldn't act upon them, because she was taken. But now that she's back in town, he will stop at nothing to make her his.

I loved the back and forth between Titan and Em. He knew exactly what he wanted- her. She may have needed convincing, but the scenes between them were on fire. And I definitely would have loved more! Titan and Em were definitely HOT together. This book had the hot sex, the passion, the danger and the twists. It was dark, and sexy, and definitely will leave you satisfied. I can't wait to see what the other Dark Kings have in store.

Series: The Dark Kingdom series

Release Date: August 2021

CROSS
Have you ever stood next to a fire and felt the heat of it on your skin? Stared into the flames and thought how amazing it would be to be that free? It changes direction with the wind, destroying everything in its wake.

That's what she felt like.

Alexa was a wildfire that torched everything she touched, and I couldn't wait to be consumed by her.

She was off-limits. Even though I promised to stay away, I couldn't resist. She was the spark I had been missing in my life. The fire I craved. I knew from an early age I was destined to burn in hell, but she was born to walk through fire.

ALEXA
I was single-minded, focused, and independent. Just how my mother raised me. I didn't have time for anything other than myself and work.

Funny how everything can change in an instant when you least expect it.

A King entered my life.

What was supposed to be one night ended up being too many to count. He was afraid that I'd see his darkness, but I couldn't get enough of him.

After all, a fire burns the brightest in the dark of night. And it only takes one match to cause total devastation.

CROSS is the third book in the Dark Kings Series and can be read as a standalone. Due to mature content and themes this book is recommended for readers aged eighteen and over. This novel may contain triggers.

Cross follows Cross one of the Dark Kings who own Kingdom. He was conditioned and groomed to be an owner of Kingdom and all that it entails- which is more than just the Casino and hotel in the middle of Vegas.

But when Alexa walks into his life, she lit his whole world aflame. She may have been off limits, but she consumed him like wildfire.

Alexa was raised to be independent and focused, not having time for anything besides work. But you have the best laid plans out, and things can change in an instant. Which is what happened when Cross walked into her life. What should have been just one night ended up in them not getting enough of each other. But will Alexa stay once she sees how dark Cross really is?

Wow wow wow!

So I spent the past few days rereading the Dark Kingdom series, & getting immersed in their world and I can't believe I forgot how much I love it all.
I honestly love the Dark Kings, the darkness of their world. Cross was definitely mysterious and I was excited to find out more about him (plus this cover was HAWT!!) I loved getting inside his head, to see him for who he was, and to see his queen, and their dynamic. Cross may have had a tough childhood, being through what he had, so he needed someone who can stand beside him. Someone who was not only strong enough to see him for who he is but also what he had been through and be there for him. He needed his own Queen- and that is what Alexa became. I loved them together. If you are looking for a new dark romance, that will set your kindle on fire this is it!

Review: Reverse

Title: Reverse

Series: Bittersweet Symphony Duet

Author: Kate Stewart

Release Date: July 19

Thirty years ago, my father became the other half of a broken love story.

A relationship he’s kept hidden for decades.

Upon unearthing his secret through a series of emails in our paper’s archives, I began my search for the truth. Haunted by my father’s love story, and in my quest for answers, I never imagined I would discover a love of my own. Or that my love for Easton Crowne would be key in discovering the reason behind what split our parents up.

Doomed from the start and knowing the havoc our relationship would inevitably wreak on our families, I could never have prepared for the toll it would take or the cost of the truth.

But in order to find our ending, we had to go back to their beginning.

My name is Natalie Butler, and this is my star-crossed love story.

*you MUST read Drive before reading Reverse to best understand this story and all these characters & the emotion throughout it.

I just finished reading Reverse- the length of this book considerably longer, hundreds of pages packed with angst, history, love and heartbreak.
It made me cry- tears flowing freely as I read the love sorry between Easton and Natalie. This book sent me on a emotional rollercoaster, punching me in the feels, but gripping me by the throat, and I couldn't look away. It was hypnotizing, and gripping, and heart shattering.
The love story was bigger than just Natalie and Easton, and to best understand they needed to go back to the start.
And that's what happened when Natalie was emersed in the past- into the love story between her father Nate and Easton's mother Stella, even though their story didn't end together, Natalie is on a mission to find out why, and what happened. And that spark lead her to meet Easton... And their angst filled romance, the modern day Romeo and Juliet- with a love greater than themselves, but stilted by circumstance, will it survive the test of time, or will their romance implode taking every one with them?
God, this book. I'm at a loss for words. It made me feel, every last thing. The angst, the push and pull, the allure and the love. My heart went through the ringer, and I'm battered and bruised but enjoyed every single second of it.
I fell in love all over again, with the characters and the story and felt every damn emotion. If you haven't got your heart ran over by one of Kate's brilliant books yet, you are missing out. I have no idea how to convey everything this book made me feel into words, but it is one that will stick with me, embedded into my very being. Kate may have had a ton to live up to, this being the sequel to Drive- but she delivered, this book is more. More love, more heartbreak, more angst and more drama. And more music, Reverse was extraordinary, standing and shining on its own while shedding light on it's predecessor - the story exceeding and surpassing any expectations or doubts, landing among the stars & will live in infamy - a timeless tale of love, loss, and what could have been. 5 supernova ⭐ out of 5⭐. 3๐ŸŒถ️ out of 5๐ŸŒถ️.

Review: Drive (reread)

Title: Drive

Series: Bittersweet Symphony Duet

Author: Kate Stewart

Release Date: October 2017

Music . . . the heart’s greatest librarian.

The average song is three and a half minutes long; those three and a half minutes could lead to a slow blink, a glimpse of the past, or catapult the soul into heart-shattering nostalgia.

At the height of my career, I had the life I wanted, the life I’d always envisioned. I’d found my tempo, my rhythm. Then I received a phone call that left me off key.

You see, my favorite songs had a way of playing simultaneously. I was in love with one man’s beats and another’s lyrics. But when it came to the soundtrack of a life, how could anyone choose a favorite song? So, to erase any doubt, I ditched my first-class ticket and decided to take a drive, fixed on the rearview.

Two days.

One playlist.

And the long road home to the man who was waiting for me.

Music and books have always been a huge part of me. The words, the emotion bleeding out, from the pages or songs, resonating deeply within my soul. They can bring me to tears, or make me laugh out loud. They can have me reliving memories, or have me living in the moment, and making me feel. And maybe I feel to much with the words, the stories or the lyrics, each burring inside of my heart and into bones, my emotions bleeding out with every beat, and every chapter.

Drive by Kate Stewart makes my two loves collide in this angst filled romance. A story like no other, Stella is set on driving Home, her car eating up the distance, while reliving her memories with one of her playlists. The love, the hurt, and the laughter are etched into each song, each chapter, each lyric and word.

"Because music is the heart’s greatest librarian. A few notes had the ability to transport me back in time, and to the most painful of places. Take any song from the Rolodex of your life, and you can pin it to a memory. It translates, resonates, and there it will remain. And no matter how many of those Rolodex cards you want to rip out and burn like an old phone number to make room for new ones, those songs remain and threaten to repeat."

And I still loved every single moment of it. The music spoke to me, my heart beating out it's rhythm. The words resonated with me, my heart aching and feeling and loving each of the characters.

This may have been yet another reread of this story that I fell in love with, in preparation for the new book coming soon, but I didn't feel it any less. The emotion was raw, and brilliant and the story unforgettable and I couldn't get enough.

"You still want the fairytale, but it’s mine to give you, and I can’t give it to you if you’re with the wrong fucking prince.”

If you're looking for a book with a killer playlist with with nostalgia & memories, a book filled with angst and all consuming love and rock and roll and make you want to wish on 11:11 than look no further...

Review: Sin Bin

Title: Sin Bin

Series: Carolina Comets series

Author: Teagan Hunter

Release Date: July 21

I should stay away.

Emilia Anderson is the team’s social media manager, and there are strict rules about not fraternizing with the staff. It doesn’t matter that we already accidentally broke them—we can’t let it happen again.

Besides, my time in the NHL is winding down, and this is my last shot at winning the Cup. I need to focus on the game, not some girl I have no business chasing.

She’s ten years younger than me.

She’s the assistant coach’s niece.

And she works for the team.

She’s off-limits…and too hard to resist.

I know better than to play this game...

But it looks like I’m heading to the sin bin.

Emilia left her home town, to get away. What she didn't expect was running into a sexy stranger to spend the night with. What she didn't expect was one amazing weekend. What she didn't expect was walking into her new job- only to realize who the sexy stranger was.

It was only supposed to be one night, and never seeing each other again. But being the Comets social media manager, and the coach's neice, that one night can never happen again. Even if they can't stop thinking about it.

Smith is one of the oldest on the team. He lives, and breathes hockey, and is married to the game. Meeting Emilia, they had a connection. Until they found out they worked together. When they are thrown together with a project, the tension may end up being too much for either to handle. She's off limits.

This book. It's filled with sexual tension and angst between the characters. The knowing it's wrong, off-limits. They work together. The age gap between them. But will they be able to stay away? Or will the tension snap and the temptation bubble over?

I loved this book. These characters. It was light, and funny, but also steamy. I loved the build up and the dynamic between them. The angst & longing which made everything so much sweeter. This book was just *chef's kiss* 5 ⭐ out of 5⭐ & I cannot wait to see what comes next for the Carolina Comets 3๐ŸŒถ️ out of 5๐ŸŒถ️

Review: Hellhound's Legion

Title: Hellhound's Legion

Series: Kit Davenport series

Author: Tate James

Join Kit and her new husbands as they face the high courts of Hell to answer for River's dual nature as a Hellhound.

This is an epilogue novella and it's strongly recommended to read the full Kit Davenport series, including the bonus scene in the box set, for context.

Hellhound's Legion is a Kit Davenport novella, where the Kit Davenport series, including the Fox Hole Novella MUST be read prior to this since Hellhound's Legion is a extended epilogue. (If you haven't read the series yet there may be spoilers ahead).

Kit and her guys decide to go on a much needed vacation after everything transpires, only danger seems to find Kit and her guys anywhere.

It seems the High Courts of Hell are ready to get River's Hellhound back... But surely, Kit won't just stand around and let anyone steal her husband away...

This was a quick & fun read. I liked seeing more from Kit and her guys but can't help to feel their story isn't over yet, and would love to see more from them.

When a team of secret agents catches up to me, I finally have the allies and resources I need to chase down some answers. But the deeper we dig into my past, the more danger we find ourselves in. Traps and traitors are behind every corner. And suddenly it's not just my life on the line, but my heart too.

I'm Kit Davenport and this is my story.

The Vixen's Lead

So, going into this series I had no idea what to expect. I went in blind, having downloaded the series a while ago, and was just looking for something new to read, and having to have read a couple other books by Tate James before, I thought why not.

The Vixen's Lead starts off with you meeting Kit, a well known thief, and learning about her special abilities. When a team of secret agents catch up to her, she now finally has the allies and resources she needs to seek out answers to questions that have been plaguing her. But the deeper they dig, the more danger they find themselves in.

This book is packed with plenty of action and adventure between Kit, and her new friends- but the romance is a slow burn throughout. - in fact the series is (supposed to be) a RH but reading through book one you don't necessarily get that, yet (I mean there is SOME hinting, but I was only guessing and didn't actually KNOW before I copied the blurb for this review).

I have just been in a major book rut recently, that I can't seem to shake. And it's left me reading at a much slower pace, so I am debating if I should continue with this series or start a reread in prep for a new releasing coming out this month. (Normally I wouldn't have any issue knocking these books out with plenty of time to read the other books, but I really have been struggling).

But, overall the book was great. I would have loved to see more romance & intimacy between the characters, BUT I have no doubt it is coming (we are still VERY early into the time frame/"relationship" between them all). And I also cannot wait to learn MORE - about Kit & everyone else (her friend Lucy, and all the guys- Caleb, Austin, Cole, River & Wesley). There is sooo much more we don't know & I can't wait to learn more!

Plus trouble & danger seem to follow Kit around and I'm sure things will be heating up- not just outside, but in the bedroom too.

If you are looking for a paranormal RH romance, then so far, I definitely recommend the Kit Davenport series. Magic, danger, and a team of 5 men? What more could you ask for?

4⭐ out of 5⭐.

Warning, any reviews past this point may contain spoilers, so if you are planning to read these books, skip these reviews until after (unless you don't mind the spoilers).

The Dragon's Wing

So, I flew through book two in the Kit Davenport series. Things definitely heated up both outside of the group, and within in, just like I suspected it would. ๐Ÿ˜

I didn't expect to fly through book 2 as fast as I did, with how much my reading slump has been affecting me lately, but so glad I did. I immediately dove in, after finishing book 1 in search of answers, and while I didn't get everything I was looking for, I got more than I thought I would.

Kit's life is still in danger, and she still isn't any closer to finding out her truths than she was in book one. She is struggling to figure out who she can trust, outside of her group of guys, and only going off instinct alone. But when her life, and the life of her guys in threatened multiple times, Kit's ability is tested.

Will Kit get the answers she needs? And will her bond with the guys be tested, or will it grow closer than ever? I honestly cannot wait to find out what else is in store for Kit, Caleb, Cole, River, Austin & Wesley!

4.5 ⭐ out of 5⭐.

The Tiger's Ambush

I quickly flew through book 3, and loved seeing the characters and story development & cannot wait for more. Each book ends on a slight cliffhanger, which of course drives me crazy because I need answers right away, so I throw myself into the next in hopes to get my answers only to be left with more questions by the end of the following book. ๐Ÿ˜‚

That said, Kit and her men are again is in danger, and she's still seeking all the answers to the hundreds of questions - not just with who she and her men are, but with everything happening around her also. And now it seems, some of her guys may be keeping secrets from her. But when someone close to her betrays her, will she be able to recover from the betrayal, or will it be too much to handle? 4.5⭐ out of 5⭐.

The Viper's Nest

So, as par of the other books, more questions were answered, and more revelations were revealed, BUT also more questions, dangers, and threats too.

I have been loving these books. They have been quick, fun reads, and I cannot wait to find out what happens next to Kit and her guys. Secrets come out, dangers around every corner, and questions that need answers. Kit and her guys can't catch a break- and they need answers to their questions to hopefully save themselves and all of the supernatural races before it's too late, but they get blindsided by a threat they didn't see coming. I cannot wait to find out how Kit and her guys will get out of this...

4.5 ⭐ out of 5⭐.

The Crow's Murder

So this book was far more emotional than the last ones. It seems the bad follow Kit around, and her loved ones take the the most damage from it. Some questions were answered, while others popped up, but I was left with swirling emotions and I cannot wait to read the last book to find out how everything plays out. I have loved these books, and these characters and cannot wait to read the conclusion, but unwilling to part with them all so soon. Will Kit be able to save the world, or will she struggle to save herself and her men?

4.5⭐ out of 5⭐

The Alpha's Pack

This was the final book in the series (minus the novella/extended epilogue). And everything that the other books lead up to finally came to a head. The battle between the two sides was happening weather Kit & her guys were ready- all were newly thrust into to the world of magic, and shifted, putting them at a serious disadvantage. And trying to build an army in a matter of weeks? Near impossible, not to mention trying to navigate a relationship between six guys, it's more than any one can juggle- but Kit isn't just any normal person- supernatural or not. Can her and her guys win the war, or will the end of the world rest on her shoulders?

4⭐ out of 5⭐.

Review: Pretty Little Savage

Title: Pretty Little Savage

Series: Sick Boys series

Author: Lucy Smoke

Release Date: October 2020

Rule No. 1: Don’t piss off the Sick Boys

They’re cruel. Reckless. Impossibly fucked up.

The Sick Boys feed on the order they create. They rule Eastpoint University just as their families have for decades. But their power doesn’t stop there. The three of them are heirs to some of the largest fortunes in the world, and behind that kind of wealth lies an underworld of corruption.

On the surface, they’re perfect princes and he is their King. But underneath it all, they’re filled with blood, lies, and secrets. With all of their connections, they have the power to crush anyone who gets in their way. But just because they’re as warped as I am doesn’t mean I’m going to give them a free pass.

Because I, Avalon Manning, bow to no one, and I live to break the fucking rules.

***This is a Dark MF New Adult Enemies to Lovers Romance.***

So for the month of June I haven't been able to read a whole lot- between being sick almost the whole month, to being busy with end of the school year for my daughter. So I have been struggling to find something to hold my attention and had hoped the Sick Boys was it.

Avalon grew up on the wrong side of town. But it had only her made her stronger. She doesn't take orders from anyone. So when she rolls into Eastpoint, and everyone warns her to fall into line for the Sick Boys she doesn't listen. On the surface they are perfect rich princes who rule the school and we're never told no. But underneath that there is something darker, more sinister. They have secrets far deeper than Avalon could see at first glance.

But that still doesn't mean she will bow down. And when the sick boys push, Avalon pushes back.

Avalon may just be a project princess, made to look good for the school, but someone even more powerful than the Sick Boys think she is important- If only the Sick Boys could find out why before it's too late.

So, I wanted to love this book. It had everything I normally look for-the cruel guys, the strong female lead, the secrets. What more could I want? The thing is, I don't know. I have been in a book slump for months. Between depression, being sick, and busy and struggling to read I have no idea what I'm looking for.

This book was interesting. I wanted to know more-about the characters, and past and it was enough to hold my interest to the end, to find out what happens between all the characters. But I didn't connect with them like I normally do- whether that's because it seemed like I read something similar before, or just because of the state I am in. I'm not saying it's a bad book- because it was good. But currently I just... Wasn't feeling it. So at the moment, I will give it 4⭐ out of 5⭐. - that may change in the future if I reread it to continue the series, but right now, in my current headspace, I didn't love it. - but who knows this book may be exactly what you are looking for if you love the bully romances with dark themes (which I normally do). The rich heroes filled with darkness & poor heroines with a chip on their shoulder. This is normally one of my favorite tropes, but I've just been in a mood & looking for something to satisfy it (but haven't exactly found it yet).
