Review: the Plight Before Christmas

Title: the Plight Before Christmas

Author: Kate Stewart

Release Date: December 19th

BLURB:
Clark Griswold was onto something, at least with his annual holiday meltdown. And since the last three weeks of my life have been riddled with humbug—another breakup, a broken toe, an office promotion I deserved and didn’t get—I’m not at all in the mood to celebrate nor have the happ, happ, happiest Christmas EVER.

When Mom insisted that we all gather at my Grandparent’s ancient cabin for an old school family Christmas, I fully intended to get into the holiday spirit with the help of the three wise men, Johnnie Walker, Jack Daniels, and Jim Beam. But those boys did absolutely nothing to offset the shock or temper the sting of seeing my EX on our doorstep the first day of our holiday soiree.

Apparently, Santa missed the memo, and this elf is pissed.

Stuck for a week with the man who obliterated my heart nearly two decades ago, I did the only thing I could do and put on my game face, thankful for the home advantage.

I knew better than to drink that last cup of eggnog.

I knew better than to get tongue tangled beneath the mistletoe with the only man to ever break my heart.

I knew better than to sleep with Satan’s wingman on the eve of the Lord’s birthday.

I could blame the nog. I could blame the deceitful light blue eyes, thick, angelic hair, and panty evaporating smirk…but mostly, I blame Eli because he always knew exactly which of my buttons to push.

I foolishly thought a family Christmas filled with nostalgia was going to turn my inner Scrooge around, but this year’s festivities went up in flames. Leave it to the ghost of my Christmas past to be the one to light the match.

Fa la la la la, la FML.

Grab a cup of spiked egg nog or hot chocolate, get cozy under a blanket or by a fire and light those Christmas lights, because the Plight Before Christmas is the perfect Christmas story.

Whitney has been having a string of bad luck lately, so she was looking forward to spending Christmas vacation with her family only to discover, her bad luck isn't over. Her brother brings home a new co-worker who didn't have anywhere else to go for the holidays. But that new co-worker, just happens to be her college ex boyfriend.
Now she is stuck in a cabin with her family, and her ex, her broken down car in the driveway and no where to go. Can she forgive him and move on from their past, or will this be a Christmas to remember?

I am not usually one to pick up and read a Christmas book, personally Christmas isn't my favorite time of year. But, this book right here, is perfect. It seriously has all the makings of not only a great Christmas story, but it's a second chance romance that not only will have you laughing, but also will have you swooning and then some. It's a delicious, heart warming, slow burn that is mixed with the perfect amount of comedy and drama. It is relatable and spicy and so much more. If you are looking for a book to distract you from the holidays then I definitely recommend this book. 5⭐ out of 5⭐.

Review: the Wrong Blue Eyes

Title: The Wrong Blue Eyes

Author: B.B. Reid

Release Date: December 10th

Heat up the holidays with this new forbidden romance from the bestselling author of Fear Me and Lilac.

Noelle is far from a good girl. In fact, she can be downright bad.
Everyone she meets adores her wild antics. Well, everyone except for her boyfriend.
When Paxton suggests a trip to Aspen for the weekend, Noelle decides to find that missing spark.
But what Noelle thinks is a romantic getaway turns out to be a party for four.
If two's company and three's a crowd, what do you call a sexy fourth wheel with blue eyes and a killer smile?
Answer: Your boyfriend's twin brother.

The Wrong Blue Eyes is a novella and a complete standalone.

Noelle is a party girl. Paxton is on the path to the straight and narrow. They have been together for three years, and are on a Christmas trip to Aspen. What Noelle thought was a romantic getaway for two turns out to be a party of four- with Noelle's best friend Felicity and Paxton's twin brother Nick.

If you are looking for a quick and steamy read this holiday season, make sure to add The Wrong Blue Eyes to your TBR today! I'm not one to normally read holiday/Christmas-sy books, but I had to grab this one by BB. It was short and spicy, with drama as well. Find out what happens with Noelle, Paxton, Felicity, and Nick in this wintery novel, because you aren't going to want to miss it. 4.5⭐ out of 5⭐.

If you are looking for an anthology to fill you up with Christmas cheer, look no further because Small Town Christmas is here, and FREE.

So, I'm not usually one to dive into Christmas books, movies or music. Christmas just isn't my favorite time of year. But I couldn't resist grabbing Small Town Christmas and reading Cold of Night and more about Lucas and Callie who are my favorite vampire, witch couple. Yes, technically it IS a standalone, but it takes place within book seven of her Thorne Hill series which is definitely worth reading if you want a full understanding of Callie and Lucas.

Coldo of Night is a small town paranormal romance, where Callie and Lucas are dealing with a demon who is attempting to ruin Christmas for Thorne Hill and Callie. Will the demon succeed, or will Callie save Christmas, and get to see her pets in cute holiday sweaters?

I loved this short glimpse at Callie and Lucas, because what better way to being holiday cheer, then with demon hunting to save Christmas, am I right? It was the perfect quick read. 4.5 ⭐ out of 5⭐.
