Review: Cursed Princess Club Season 2

Title: Cursed Princess Club season 2

Author: Lambcat

Release Date: July 4, 2023

Just because you’re cursed doesn’t mean you’re not special.

Gwendolyn, the youngest of the King’s three daughters, is living proof that princesses don’t always have it all. She isn’t like a typical fairy-tale princess, or other princesses in the Pastel Kingdom. Gwendolyn, with her big heart and love of baking, isn’t particularly attractive. Unlike her sisters who have woodland creatures do their hair and makeup, or have flowers blossom wherever they sleep, Gwendolyn is a bit…different. So when her father proposes marriage for her and her sisters to make an alliance with the Plaid Kingdom, it breaks Gwendolyn’s heart to hear that Prince Frederick thinks she’s “really ugly.” Overwhelmed and ashamed, she runs away into the forest and encounters the twisted world of the Cursed Princess Club, where her life will never be the same.

The Cursed Princess Club are a ragtag band of outcasts, misfits and cursed princesses who have created an incredible friendship circle. It is among these friends where Gwendolyn learns to embrace her uniqueness and find her people.

In this second book of the series, we learn low self esteem isn’t just for girls! Meet the Princels―princes who have shunned society not because of curses (although one has to wonder…) but because of their own insecurities about their physical appearance and their inability to find romantic partners. And then we have Prince Frederick, who starts to worry if he even deserves Gwen. Plus, you too can learn to be as pretty as a Cursed Princess!

So, Season 2 picks up where Season 1 left off (so yes, they should be read in order).

Gwen is insecure about what her fiance has said. But that doesn't stop her from trying to help others. And the Cursed Princess Club tries to help her too. To see that being beautiful is more than just skin deep. We also learn more about some of the other characters- from the Cursed Princess Club to the princes & meeting the Princels among a couple other characters as well.

Just like before, this book is fun, light & quick read. The artwork is also fun and colorful too. It dives into the insecurities of some of the characters & their back stories, & while it does keep things light & fun there is also some darker themes as well. If you like graphic novels, stories about princes & princesses & friendship & stories that are fun & lighthearted but also touch on insecurities & darker themes then I definitely recommend the Cursed Princess Club. 4⭐ out of 5⭐.

Review: Cursed Princess Club Season 1

Title: Cursed Princess Club season 1

Author: Lambcat

Meet Gwendolyn – living proof that princesses don’t always have it all. See, although she lives in a castle and her father is the King, Gwendolyn isn’t like a movie princess, or even a fairly-tale princess. She’s got a big heart, but isn’t particularly attractive and doesn’t have a Disney-quality singing voice. But one night, she accidentally stumbles upon the twisted world of the Cursed Princess Club, and her life will never be the same. Hexed and cast out, the ladies of the club are just the people Gwendolyn needs to show her that just because she doesn’t “fit the mold” does not mean she’s any less of a princess.

[Episodes 1-29]

So, I decided to try some graphic novels for the first time.  My daughter loves the kids ones, and I wanted something light and easy to read.

The Cursed Princess Club is about the three princesses and their brother from the Pastel Kingdom, who have been sheltered their whole life. But their father comes home saying it is time for the three princesses to get married. But Gwen isn't like her sisters- and she overhears her prince saying he doesn't like her. Which causes her to stumble into the world of the Cursed Princesses Club, a club of princesses who have been cursed in their lives, and learns that just because she doesnt fit the mold it doesn't make her any less of a princess.

These books are light, funny, and easy to read. It isn't a typical fairytale story, - but is charming and fun to read. I can't wait to see what else is in store with Gwen, her family, the princes and the Cursed Princess Club. 4⭐ out of 5⭐.

Review: Unstoppable

Title: Unstoppable

Series: Pretty Liars duet

Author: K.A. Knight

Release Date: March 10, 2023

My father is a genius.

A scientist determined to unlock the human potential.

Only his experiments?

He conducted them on me.

I managed to escape his cruel, painful control, and for years I hid.

Until one day, news comes of his death.

Along with the fact his experiments are still being carried out.

This time I cannot run, I cannot hide.

I must stop them once and for all.

He thought he was invincible…. but me?

I’m Unstoppable.

*Unstoppable is the first book in the Pretty Liars duet. Both books touch on heavy subjects and we advise readers to check out the trigger warnings first.*

Nova was on the run. She was one of her father's experiments. But when he passes, Nova comes back to make sure, and try and reconnect with her sister. What she doesn't expect to find, is others like her. Guy's who were experimented on. Or the news that there are still experiments still being carried out. So Nova must make a choice. She could go back to her life on the run, or join forces and try and stop the experiments from continuing on.

So, in the beginning I did really like this story. It had a decent storyline, and was a decent dark read going in. But as we went on the guy's personality started to blend together and I am unsure if one of them is Dmetri (99) or Dimitri (47) bc it is spelled both ways multiple times throughout the book.  Usually spelling mistakes doesn't bother me, and I can ignore it, but bc it was so often, it really stood out and I didn't know which was the correct spelling for the character's name or not, so it was distracting. But about 60% or so, I unfortunately started losing some interest in the story, and it took me longer to finish the ending than it should have been.

If you are looking for a dark why choose romance, with some plot & lots of smut than this might be right up your alley. I did enjoy the story, and wanted to love it, but I didn't really connect with any of the characters.

Overall, I give it 3.5 ⭐ out of 5⭐.

5🌶️ out of 5🌶️. - s*x over plot, in detail, all the k!nks, spice, dirty talk, etc.

Review: Blood of Night

Title: Blood of Night

Series: Thorne Hill series

Author: Emily Goodwin

Release Date: September 2022

They say when one door closes, another opens. And in my case, that door leads right to Hell—literally. Though it’s not necessarily a bad thing, as crazy as it may sound since this specific hell dimension is ruled by Osiris, God of the Underworld.

And he just might be the only one who can help me save the world from the total devastation the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse will bring. But he’s also the only one standing between me and Lucas, who sacrificed everything so I could live. I’ll do whatever it takes to save him, and if anyone gets in my way, blood will spill. In an attempt to keep the world from completely imploding, Osiris wants to make a he’ll help free my husband in exchange for me staying in the Underworld with him, ruling by his side. It’s not a deal I’d agree to, until I realize how close the archangels are to finding out who I really am. If there’s one thing I know about Hell, it’s that it makes one hell of a hiding place…

Ugh, so I have been in a book slump since the ending of the last book I read.so reading anything has been slow going.

But I wanted to dive back into the Thorne Hill world, and get answers. (Yes, all the previous books must be read in order, before diving into book 9).

After Lucas was taken as one of the Four Horsemen, Callie will stop at nothing to get her husband back, no matter the costs. But Lucas' disappearance isn't the only thing the powerful witch has to deal with- between being a new mom, a powerful demon attempting to break out of hell, the angels threatening to reign down upon Callie being an abomination and a centuries old vampire coming to try an enlist Callie and Lucas to his cause, it must be another Tuesday for Callie.

I am still so insanely in love with these books & world, & the epic love story between Callie & Lucas.

Callie is still so bad ass. She is strong & powerful & a mom who can do it all at that. And I love seeing her, and her friends, family & Lucas' story.

I cannot wait to see what the next book brings.

5⭐ out of 5⭐.

2🌶️ out of 5🌶️. - a couple of scenes with some detail.
