Book Tag: September, October, November Wrap Up

Hi everyone!!

Can you believe it is almost December?! Where has the year gone? How was your fall in books?

Sorry I haven't been as active this fall. With my depression and Anxiety hitting me, being in a massive book funk, and then my daughter being sick, I haven't gotten as much reading done as I would have liked. I have read 13 books these past couple months, bringing my total up to 84. I may not hit 100 this year, but I am still super proud of how many I have read, and enjoyed most of them!

This is a highly anticipated sequel to Truly Mine, which left us hanging to find out what happens with Sophie and Mason. I loved reading Mason and Sophie's story. And to see their journey, and how each of them grew. To go from being just friends, to becoming the most important people in each other's lives. No matter what life threw at either of them, they had each other. Review

So what happens when her boss Alex offers her an offer she can't refuse- despite the many warning signs she should? What is worse then hating your boss? Falling in love with him. Review

On the edge of town a beast haunts the woods, trapped in the Gray, it's prison slowly weakening...

But that's not all, there is strange things happening, and she's set on getting to the bottom of it. She meets the other children founding family children- and sees the respect they get from other townsfolk- but also the fear.
Bodies are appearing in the woods, and the local towns people are turning hostile towards the founding families. Can Violet and the other founders children solve the mystery of what is happening in Four Paths, and how to stop it before it's too late? Review

This story. I did not want it to end. I felt every single emotion. All the twists and turns. Secrets and revelations. Choices that could change their lives forever. Review

Harper and Alex are finally seeing eye to eye, no longer at odds with one another, just for Harper's past to come crashing into their life. Now Harper must choose between Alex, the man she thought she was going to have a future with, or Micheal, the father of her children and the family she had always wanted. Review

Abby's life has always been hard. She always had to follow a certain set of rules. But now, she has finally hit rock bottom. He think's he destroyed her, broken her beyond repair. But the thing about hitting rock bottom is, the only way left to go is up. He's always underestimated women- especially Abby. But Abby has a plan to get her revenge. And he will never know what hit him, until it's too late. Review

Until he finds out he not only has a son, but has to make the choice on if he wants custody or to put him in the system. That's where Naomi comes in. Axton hires her to be his live in nanny, to take care of Caden while they are home, and recording and when they set off on their tour in a few short weeks. She seems perfectly qualified, and great for the job except for one thing... Axton can't stand her. Review

Katy is starting over. Her mom moved her away from all she has known, to try to run from their grief. Besides starting over in a new, small town where everyone knows everyone... she also has new neighbors. She quickly makes friends with Dee, with her outgoing and bubbly personality. But Dee's twin brother Daemon? That's a different story. He is an arrogant, infuriating, gorgeous jerk that she would want nothing more than to stab, or kiss. Review

Riley met Zoey in Las Vegas. After only spending hours together, they wake up to find that they got hitched during a drunken night. Now they must decide if their connection was real, and they should try to make things work, or if they should get divorced and pretend the whole thing didn't happen. Review

After Callie learns some truths about her, her and Lucas must decide how of if they are going to proceed with their relationship- since it is against the law for witches and vampires to be together. And to top it off, someone wants Callie dead, again. Plus if you think your family has drama, you don't have anything on Callie's. The truth of her relations has her questioning if she really is good, or may become evil. Review

Eight years later, and Rory lays eyes on him again. But now she has a career she loves, a boyfriend, a roommate, an apartment and life in New York City. But Mal has changed too. Will Rory keep her word? Review

This fall was filled with so many great releases, and I added a ton of new books to my TBR as well!!

What fall (September, October, November) releases have you added to your TBR? What was your favorite read of these past few months? Let me know in the comments below!!

Review: Evermore

Title: Evermore
Series: When Rivals Play
Author: B.B. Reid
Release Date: May 27, 2019

Grab your dancing shoes and put on your prettiest dress. It's prom season in Blackwood Keep and forever can't wait any longer!
Four Archer was the toughest girl around. Just ask anyone. She’s the street racing daredevil who brought the King of Brynwood Academy to his knees. But watching her boyfriend fawn over his childhood playmate—even though it was just an act—would be her toughest challenge yet. When jealousy rears its ugly head, Four questions if she can handle playing the sideline.
Ever McNamara has the world at his fingertips, but not even a private jet and a seven-figure trust fund can get him out of this rock and a hard place. When a childhood pact puts their fairytale in peril, Ever must risk it all to keep her.

It is strongly advised that you read The Peer and the Puppet and The Moth and the Flame before diving in. However, this 15K bonus novella is not a required reading to continue the When Rivals Play series. Content suitable for 18+.

Return to Blackwood Keep during Prom Season and find out how Four and Ever are coping with Ever's childhood pack with his best friend Barbette in this quick but adequate read. Receive more of Four's stubborn but toughness, Ever's alpha-ness and Jamie's broodyness in this novella focusing on Ever and Four's relationship, that ties place after the events of the Moth and the Flame (recommended both the Peer and the Puppet and the Moth and the Flame is read first before Evermore).
I enjoyed returning to the Blackwood Keep world and seeing Four and Ever again. And I can't wait for the Punk and the Play Thing! 4🌟 out of 5🌟

Sometimes you meet people who are out of this world, so you make them a part of yours.

A one-night stand born from vengeance in a foreign land.
An explosive chemistry neither of us could deny.
We signed a contract on the back of a Boar’s Head Pub napkin that said if we ever met again, we would drop everything and be together.
Eight years and thousands of miles later, he’s here.
In New York.
And he’s America’s music obsession.
The intangible Irish poet who brings record executives to their knees.
The blizzard in my perfect, unshaken snow globe.
Last time we spoke, he was a beggar with no intention of becoming a king.
But a king he became, and now I’m his servant.
I’m not the same broken princess Malachy Doherty put back together with his callused hands.
I have a career I love.
A boyfriend I adore.
An apartment, a roommate, a life.
I changed. He changed, too.
But Mal kept the napkin.
Question is, will I keep my word?

Excerpt

When I finally come face to face with the street artist standing on the side of the pavement, his guitar case open and full of rolled-up notes and change, I understand why his grandfather told me I’d recognize him with the self-assurance of an avid believer.
I’ve never seen someone like him before.
He is beautiful, true, but that’s not what stands out to me. He is radiant
It’s like his presence has a presence. He sucks the air out of everything in his vicinity, making it impossible not to look at him. Malachy is tailor-made for a huge, colossal heartbreak. Everything about him—his tattered jeans, filthy boots, white shirt, and leather jacket that was broken in decades ago—screams trouble. He looks like a seventies heartthrob. An icon. A Terry Richardson muse. Bruce Springsteen pre-fame.
His voice is like honey and warm spices. It lulls me into a place in my mind I’ve never been before, even though it’s far from beautiful. It is gruff, throaty, and smoky. When someone bumps my shoulder to get closer to him, I snap out of my reverie and realize what I’m listening to.
“One” by U2.
The coincidence is strange. I try to tell myself it’s nothing. This is Ireland. U2 is a national treasure.
His eyes are squeezed shut as he sings. It’s like no one exists other than him and his guitar. Something warm rushes through my skin, like a heat wave, and I shudder in delight.
Warmth.
I always thought there was something melancholy about street performers—the way people walk past them, ignoring their music, their art, their passion. But this guy, he’s the one doing the ignoring. The tables have turned. He’s got the crowd eating from the palm of his hand. Every woman here is under a thick, sweet spell. He’s got that Harry Styles quality that makes girls want to bed him and older women want to adopt him. The men are a cross between impatient, annoyed, and jealous. You can see it in the way they tap their feet, check their watches, nudge their wives and girlfriends to move it.
The song ends, and Malachy Doherty cracks his eyes open and stares directly at me, like he knew I’d be here. Like he watched me watching him through closed eyes. Disoriented—and for some reason wanting to do something, anything—I throw a bill into his guitar case and look away, realizing to my horror that I threw the fifty euros his grandpa gave me. Everyone around me murmurs and whistles. They think it was intentional. I can feel my face flaming red. I bet he thinks I want to sleep with him.
Do I? Probably. But should he know that? Hell no.

Review: Six Weeks of Loving You

Title: Six Weeks of Loving You
Author: Karli Perrin
Release Date: Nov 26
mybook.to/SixWeeksofLovingYou

BLURB -

The news reporters called it a disaster.
The doctors called it a miracle.
I could still walk. I could still talk. I could still remember every little detail about the train crash.
Until I couldn’t.
Six weeks later, I lost my memory.
I woke up believing that it was the morning of the accident.
Six weeks after that, it happened again.
I have retrograde amnesia. I’ve damaged a part of my brain which allows me to recall the recent past. In other words, I have an extremely limited short-term memory – six weeks to be exact.
The train derailed eighteen months ago.
I’ve relived that morning twelve times.
When I meet Spencer Hale, I put up a huge fight.
I won’t let him in. I can’t let him in. But with each day that passes, my walls begin to come down.
I get one step closer to loving him.
And one step closer to losing him.
Welcome to the train wreck that is my life.

Where do I even begin with this book? Every six weeks Cora wakes up without any memory of what happened during those six weeks. She was in a horrible accident which gave her amnesia. And then she meets Spencer Hale. She can't be with him. In six weeks she will forget he ever existed, leaving him behind. But as each day passes, her walls begin to crumble, bringing her one step closer to falling in love with him. And one step closer to losing him.
This book... I am still at a loss for words. I seen this cover and read this blurb months ago, and just had to get my hands on it. This cover is gorgeous. And that blurb just drew me in. I had to know what happens... This story, and these characters made me feel sooo much. I laughed with them, I swooned with them, and I cried with them. It was such a amazing touching story, and beautifully written. Both Cora and Spencer's characters were relatable. And I understood where both Cora and Spencer were coming from. How could Cora essentially start a relationship, knowing that in six weeks she wasn't going to remember him? And how could Spencer not want to give it a shot- if it would be something that made both of them happy? Falling in love has never been so complicated. If you are looking for romance, and angst with a dash of melancholy and despair, then you need to pick up this book. 4.5 emotional ⭐'s out of 5 ⭐.

"Because you're the only thing that makes me feel alive. There's death everywhere you look, yes. But there's life, too. You just need to notice it."

I enjoyed this book. I love LJ Shen's writing and this while different then her normal books, is no different. There were some parts that were difficult to read. And I'm not usually a fan of insta-love. And while this isn't my absolute favorite of hers, I still enjoyed reading Rory & Mal's story.
It was a kinda romcom kinda drama and angst type read. But quite a few things that may trigger readers including cheating, drug and alcohol use & abuse, rape, and death. Some of what the main and side characters did was awful and unforgivable. But I liked seeing stuff in multiple person's POV- and not just the main characters but some of the side characters also!
Mal's and Rory's relationship wasn't perfect. They didn't always mesh- and they kept secrets from each other that if they had told each other sooner, would have worked out in their favors!
All-in-all, it was still a good read, and I enjoyed their story and journey. 4 punk-rock ⭐ out of 5⭐.
