Review: Heir Of Night

Title: Heir of Night

Series: Thorne Hill

Author: Emily Goodwin

Release Date: October 2021

Break out of hell. Stop the impending apocalypse. Have a baby. Just a typical Tuesday night for me, right? The odds are against me, and you can only get lucky so many times before the luck runs out.

Because even if I somehow manage to pull that all off, I have to do it without alerting my celestial relatives that I’ve been alive and kicking this whole time. It would be a death sentence not only for me, but also for my father who risked everything to protect me. What it would mean for my daughter…I don’t know, but I can’t imagine she’ll be welcomed with loving arms by the very beings who want to murder her mother.

I’m not alone in the fight, and I’m not sure what scares me more: the thought of losing or the lengths those who love me are willing to go to in order to protect both me and my daughter. Lucas will do whatever it takes to keep me safe, and I don’t want to live in a world without him in it. I won’t let him risk it all for me, but if one of us doesn’t make a sacrifice, there’s a scary chance our daughter could grow up without either of her parents…or not get the chance to grow up at all.

OMG OMG OMG!!!

First thing is, this is book 8 in the Thorne Hill series and it MUST be read in order to understand everything going on. So definitely start with Dead of Night & continue the story before jumping into book 8, or continuing my review because it may contain spoilers for the series.

So, if you don't already know, I absolutely LOVE Thorne Hill series. And this one is no different. Callie and Lucas have been through sooo much together, and after the way book 7 ended I needed to get my hands on Heir of Night, and was not disappointed. Callie was in hell with her uncle, and needed to get out, back to Lucas, save the world from the apocalypse and safely have her baby. But of course things aren't so easy, and she can only be so lucky before her luck finally runs out.

Seriously I absolutely loved this book and devoured it. I love Callie and Lucas' story. The magic, adventure, danger and love of the characters not to mention the amazing friendships, the paranormal and everything else these book bring. Callie may be pregnant but she doesn't let that stop her, or even slow her down in the way of being the most powerful witch their is. She still fights demons, still tries to save the world and still is the bada** she always has been- but even more so, because now she is doing it WHILE pregnant. Lucas is still one of the oldest and most powerful vampires around, who wants nothing more than keeping Callie, and the baby safe and loving them. Which is easier said then done when Callie impulsively heads into danger constantly. And I cannot wait to see where the story goes from here & what will happen next with Callie, Lucas, and everyone else in their circle of friends and family. 5⭐ out of 5⭐

Review: Lords of Wrath

Title: Lords of Wrath

Series: Royals of Forsyth University

Authors: Angel Lawson & Samantha Rue

Release Date: June 2021

They hurt me, abuse me, use me…

I signed up for it. Literally. I agreed to the contract that made me the Lords’ Lady, a position that requires me to do whatever they want, but only as protection from someone worse. I agreed to be in their beds, on my knees, and punished should I disobey.

I just wasn’t expecting punishment like this.

Killian is two-hundred-and-twenty pounds of muscle, brutal physicality, and pure spite. He thinks I don’t know that he watches me when I sleep.

Tristian is fair-haired and charming to anyone who doesn’t know better. To me, he’s the man who seeks to control me, with his cold eyes and possessiveness.

Rath is the dark-eyed tempest who took me into his bed. Even having been subjected to his barbed tongue, he’s the first man to ever make me feel safe.

I hadn’t realized how much they’ve worn me down and made me feel complacent, but it turns out they’ve messed with my head just as much as they abused my body. Despite the awful things they've done to me, they actually made me feel special. Cared for. Protected.

And then I found out it was all a lie.

The way Tristian cares, Killian’s vigilant eyes, and worst of all, my contented moments in Rath’s bed, were all part of a game.

A game to see who can use me best.

A game they’ve been playing since day one.

And now?

It’s a game I’m going to win.

WARNING: This book is a DARK/BULLY romance. It contains graphic content of abuse and assault that some readers may be particularly sensitive to. If you have triggers or are even remotely unsure, please heed the note at the beginning of this book.

The Royals of Forsyth University is a three book, reverse harem series by Best Selling Authors, Angel Lawson & Samantha Rue.

Lords of Pain
Lords of Wrath
Lords of Mercy

So, first this is the SECOND book in the Forsyth University series and book 1 MUST be read first, bc this book takes place immediately after book 1.
Second, be prepared going in, this book is a dark bully RH romance and may have triggers.
Story signed up to be a Lady to the Lords, Killain, Tristan and Rath. They use her, hurt her, and abuse her. But she agreed to be theirs in an attempt to protect herself from someone who is worse.
Story starts to feel complacent, and safe, only to realize the way Tristan cares, Killian's viligent eyes and feeling content with Rath- it was all a lie. A game on who could use Story best. So now Story decides to fight back the only way she can, and win the game herself. But at what cost?
Seriously I absolutely loved this book. Seeing Story grow from being so sweet and innocent to something more. To seeing her fight back and stand up for herself.
I loved seeing more of Killian, Tristan and Rath. They are still cruel and vicious and love tormenting and punishing Story, but there's more there too. They are obsessive and possessive and Story belongs to them in every way possible. But there's also an unknown threat, watching, lurking, waiting... Preparing to strike.
I seriously loved how dark and twisted this book was, how utterly ruthless and cruel the Lords were, and I cannot wait to read more of Story and the Lords story and watch how everything unfolds. 4.5 ⭐ out of 5⭐.

Review: Lords of Pain

Title: Lords of Pain

Series: the Royals of Forsyth University

Authors: Angel Lawson & Samantha Rue

Release Date: February, 2021

I never claimed to be a good girl, but I definitely never asked for this.

Killian, Tristian, and Rath.

These three men are a part of my past--one that I'd rather never look in the eye again. In high school, they knew my secrets and I knew theirs. They had power and I had nothing. The night everything fell apart, my stepbrother allowed his two best friends to take their rage out on me while he watched. While they laughed.

But what happened that night wasn’t my biggest secret. So I ran, planning on never coming back.

Three years later I’m standing on their doorstep like a stray. They’re more powerful than ever now, having risen to the rank of Lords at Forsyth University. But I’m still on the run and there's another monster chasing me down.

What could bring me back into their lives, their homes, and ultimately, their beds?

Fear.
Shame.
Desperation.

Killian, Rath, and Tristian aren’t the only ones who want me. There’s someone far more dangerous out there who's been stalking me since I left town the first time. Someone who makes the evil I know feel less dangerous than the evil I don’t.

But being their Lady is more than just fancy clothes and reputation.

I might be under their protection, but I’m also at their mercy.

And there's nothing a Lord loves more than taking control.

Wow! First, let me say there is some content that may trigger you, it is a dark bully romance so check the content if you need to going in.
Killain, Rath, & Tristan are cruel, vicious and mean. They hurt others for fun. And in high school had Story in their sights. Exploited her secret to get her to do what they wanted. Until she ran.
But fear and desperation are enough to send Story back into the arms of the very guys who abused her. They may be cruel, and she may still have nightmares of their past together, but they aren't the only thing she fears. So if becoming the Lady to the Lord's and being at their mercy is the price to pay for being safe, then she will gladly pay it. Because it's better the evil you know, then the evil you don't.
So, for me getting into this book was a little slow, but I started while I had a book hangover from a previous read, and then I was sick. But I pushed through, and boy was I glad I did. If you love dark bully RH romance and step brother romance then you need to pick up this book. It was dark, and twisted. Story was sweet, innocent, and even naive at times. The guys were cruel, and every bit as messed up as I love them to be. (I never said I was sane). It was such a great read, and I cannot wait to find out what happens next in this story, and with these characters.
4.5⭐ out of 5⭐.

Review: Timber

Title: Timber

Series: Hades

Author: Tate James

Release Date: September 3, 2021

Timber is the FOURTH in a new Shadow Grove series. Several characters cross over to the Madison Kate series but it is not necessary to read MK's story first. HADES is a contemporary new adult reverse harem series, which means the leading lady has several love interests and never has to choose in order to find her HEA.

The blurb below contains spoilers for previous books. Don't read it if you don't want to ruin the story for yourself.

I mean it. Please don't spoil the story if you're not yet up to this book.

You've been warned.

♥♥♥

Betrayed.

My best friend, my right hand, the man I trusted above all others. Zayden de Rosa declared his love for me and pursued me until he shattered the walls between us. Then the man who loved me proved to be a traitor. I never saw that coming.

Abandoned.

My fierce lover, he died to protect me. Let me kill him and erase him so he could move in the shadows. He’s out there alone and he has no idea what’s happened. All he’ll know is that I’m not where I’m supposed to be. Something that might cost him his life for real. I have to trust him to survive on his own. He never saw that coming.

Framed.

My lighthouse. My lover. My Lucas. I love him so damn much and while I might be guilty of some crimes, the worst seems to be hurting him. The majority of what they arrested me for was a damn lie, but not that one. Hopefully the light he promised me will sustain through this time. We never saw that coming.

Enraged.

My ex is at the heart of this all. One assault after another. He didn’t break me before and he won’t break me now.

I’m Hades.

He’ll never see me coming.

♥♥♥

Timber is book FOUR of FOUR in the Hades series. This book contains scenes and content that may become triggering for some people and it is advised to proceed with caution. If you've got this far in the series, you're already well acquainted with the nature of the Hades plotline and can make your own educated guesses.

Wow, wow, wow!
So before I continue with my review, this is book 4 in the Hades series and the first 3 books MUST be read in order to follow along to everything going on, since this picks up immediately after book 3 ends!
Hades was her by a betrayal that cut deeper than any knife could, when she was stabbed in the back by her best friend and one of her lovers, Zayden. She was served up on a silver platter, not only to FBI custody but into the hands of her deranged ex. But Hades survived him once before, she wasn't going to let him break her again. Not this time. She has something to live for. But that is easier said then done. Especially since Cass and Lucas have no idea where she ended up. Especially since Cass was deeply in an undercover mission, and Lucas might hate her for her betrayal and lies. Especially since Hades might truly be alone.
But one thing that her ex didn't count on was Hades fighting back.
Seriously, I looooved this book. After the ending of book 3 I desperately needed to read this book & get answers. I needed to find out why Zayden betrayed his best friend, and needed to see if Hades would survive. I related to some of what Hades has been through, and needed her to overcome it, come out the other side stronger then ever before. And Hades has definitely been through hell, not once but twice with no end in sight for the assults. She was a bada** boss b* & didn't let her past or what she had been through deter her. She was mf Hades, goddess and ruler of the tristate area, and had three men who worshipped and loved her beyond belief. Their love didn't make her soft, or weak. It made her stronger. Strong enough to rain down hellfire on those deserving, including her psychotic ex.
Seriously, I needed to read the Hades series to help pull me out of my slump. It had everything in it, from angst, drama, suspense, to hot sex. It had insta-lust, friends to lovers, rivals to lovers, and crazy ex's. If you are looking for something dark, twisted, gang affiliated, and a RH because why choose one love interest when you can claim all, then these are the books for you! What's better then guns, violence, and sex? 4.5⭐ out of 5⭐.

Review: Club 22

Title: Club 22

Series: Hades

Author: Tate James

Release Date: June 2021

Club 22 is the THIRD in a new Shadow Grove series. Several characters cross over to the Madison Kate series but it is not necessary to read MK's story first. HADES is a contemporary new adult reverse harem series, which means the leading lady has several love interests and never has to choose in order to find her HEA.

◆◆◆

They say to keep your enemies close and mine are all around me. At the heart of it are four dangerously gorgeous men. The man who wants to light my darkness and already paid the price for loving me. The man who can handle my power and loves every dark inch of me. The man who has been my closest companion and now threatens to upend our carefully balanced world in pursuit of me.

But the fourth man is probably the most terrifying. He wants to take the others away. He wants to tear the spinal column out my empire. Destroy my businesses. Destroy me.

Why?

Because the man who should have stayed dead wants me and he will stop at nothing until he’s carved out my bloody, beating heart and left me broken.

He should remember who he’s dealing with…I’m not the girl he knew anymore.

I’m Hades.

This time when death comes for him, I’ll make sure it sticks.

Oh. My. Goodness. I am at a loss for words. I just can't handle the ending of Club 22 & cannot wait to jump into Timber!
Club 22 takes place after Anarchy & you must read the Hades books in order to understand what is going on.
They say to keep your enemies close, which isn't a problem for Hades, since her enemies surround her. But at the heart of it all, there are four dangerous men. The one who can light her darkness, the one who has already paid for loving her, her closest companion, and one who should have stayed dead instead of coming back to haunt Hades with the past and torment her with mind games.
Hades not only has to navigate her relationships with three men, but deal with her persisting ex and all the trouble he's caused since reappearing back in her life.
But above all, guard her heart, and herself, because there will be secrets dug up that could damage more than just Hades reputation and businesses.
I'm still trying to push through a wicked book slump so this book took me a bit longer to get through then I would have liked, but otherwise I definitely loved it. I loved the darkness, the angst, the sex, and the suspense. I am dying to get answers, and find out what the heck is happening in Shadow Grove & finish up this series! It's been one crazy wild ride from the start and I can't wait to see how everything plays out and ends after everything that went on in this third book! Seriously, I am currently in a state of WTF right now, and I need answers! 4.5⭐ out of 5 ⭐.

Review: Anarchy

Title: Anarchy

Series: Hades

Author: Tate James

Release Date: March 2021

Anarchy is the SECOND in a new Shadow Grove series. Several characters cross over to the Madison Kate series but it is not necessary to read MK's story first. HADES is a contemporary new adult reverse harem series, which means the leading lady has several love interests and never has to choose in order to find her HEA.

◆◆◆

Five years ago, I made a choice that I haven’t regretted a day since. I protected the single most important person in my world, my little sister. I protected myself, and I seized control of the Tri-state Timberwolves.

Since then, I’ve wielded that power with an iron fist. Done whatever it took to take care of my people. Kept us out of the public eye, and kept us safe.

Now a ghost from my past is threatening my position. Challenging me. Peddling their poison and breaking my rules. Stabbing at me in the dark.

Blowing up my fucking club.

But this last attack has taken it one step too far. They have no idea the lengths I’ll go to protect what is mine. And Lucas? He’s mine.

They want anarchy? They haven’t seen anything yet.

◆◆◆

Anarchy is book TWO of FOUR in the Hades series

What?! WHAT?!
So I need to sleep because I got to get up in the morning for my daughter's first day of school. Except I ended up finishing this book AND NOW NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPEND NEXT?!
This book is book 2 in the Hades series & book 1 MUST be read first to follow along.
Hades is head of the Timberwolves, but what she didn't expect us not one but two very different guys who she may be falling for. But, Hades doesn't do emotions, especially when her past is coming back to haunt her. Trust doesn't come easily for the head of the trip state gangs, but what happens when that trust is broken?
So, I didn't mean to finish this book tonight, honest. I just planned to read a little before bed, but I hadn't realize how close to the end I was... Until there was no more pages. The ending was definitely unexpected and still has me reeling. Now I am debating whether to try and sleep (probably unlikely) or start the next book to try and get answers?! Bc HFS that ending!!! Talk about a mind f. 4⭐ out of 5⭐.

Review: 7th Circle

Title: 7th Circle

Series: Hades series

Author: Tate James

Release Date: January 2021

Five years ago, I masterminded the infamous massacre of the Tri-state Timberwolves.

The streets outside the Wolves HQ ran red with the blood of the old guard, and not one of those members loyal to my father were spared mercy. Not a single one.

I let the media twist and distort the story. My new recruits eagerly proved themselves in spreading false news, in covering our tracks. To the general public, the Tri-State Timberwolves were extinct.

But that couldn’t have been further from the truth. We changed, we grew, we evolved and came out stronger than ever. Now, I live, eat, sleep and breathe Timberwolves. I’ll do anything to keep my empire safe and thriving. To keep the people depending on me safe.

So, what do I do, when it’s my own weakness that places us all in danger? When I let sex cloud my judgment, and my people pay the price?

Simple. Kill the distractions.

I’m called Hades for a reason, after all.

So, I have been in a huge book hangover for over a week now. I'm talking couldn't get into any thing. I picked up a book got 2 paged in and put it down book hangover.
But I have been dying to read these books after I read Madison Kate series... I just didn't want to start them and then be left waiting for answers until the fourth book released. Well it's out and I grabbed up this book.
And now... I am invested and need answers and cannot wait to start the 2nd book 😂😂
Hades is the head of what is left of the Timberwolves. For the most part they have gone underground and are legitimate. But she is still one of the most feared people in the Tristate area, thanks to the Timber wolf massacre. But she will do whatever it takes to keep her sister Seph alive. And the best way to do that is to stay on top. Eliminate any threats quickly.
So what is Hades to do when the threat is a ghost from her past?
Hades is the crime-boss for the tristate area. She is tough, doesn't take no shit, and powerful. She doesn't show weakness or vulnerability. She's young at only twenty three, but with what she has been through you wouldn't know it. So when she was rejected by the guy she wanted for years, she impulsively jumped on the first hot guy to make him jealous. It just so happened that guy was a stripper at one of her bars. He made her feel young and alive and her age again. Things she doesn't normal get to feel in her line of work. But with her work, just her being around him puts him at risk. And dispite it all, he is fairly innocent and knows nothing of the gang world that she grew up in.
I loved seeing a woman in power- and Hades had it. She was powerful, but there was more to her then just her job title. I loved seeing the dynamic between her and her best friend and second & can't wait to see what goes on between them, let alone the guy whom she likes that rejected her and more of her with the male stripper.
I loved seeing her with her sister too & their relationship together.
And loved the brief glimpses we got of the characters from the MK books!
I cannot wait to read more & find out what happens next in this series!! 4⭐ out of 5⭐.
