Title: In the Unlikely Event
Author: L.J. Shen
Release Date: November 12

Blurb:

Sometimes you meet people who are out of this world, so you make them a part of yours.
A one-night stand born from vengeance in a foreign land.
An explosive chemistry neither of us could deny.
We signed a contract on the back of a Boar’s Head Pub napkin that said if we ever met again, we would drop everything and be together.
Eight years and thousands of miles later, he’s here.
In New York.
And he’s America’s music obsession.
The intangible Irish poet who brings record executives to their knees.
The blizzard in my perfect, unshaken snow globe.
Last time we spoke, he was a beggar with no intention of becoming a king.
But a king he became, and now I’m his servant.
I’m not the same broken princess Malachy Doherty put back together with his callused hands.
I have a career I love.
A boyfriend I adore.
An apartment, a roommate, a life.
I changed. He changed, too.
But Mal kept the napkin.
Question is, will I keep my word?

Mal and Rory met for twenty four hours, and a one night stand when she was briefly in Ireland. Before she left, they made a contract on a napkin that in the Unlikely event of them ever meeting again, they will give each other a real shot at a relationship regardless of circumstances.
Eight years later, and Rory lays eyes on him again. But now she has a career she loves, a boyfriend, a roommate, an apartment and life in New York City. But Mal has changed too. Will Rory keep her word?

"Because you're the only thing that makes me feel alive. There's death everywhere you look, yes. But there's life, too. You just need to notice it."

I enjoyed this book. I love LJ Shen's writing and this while different then her normal books, is no different. There were some parts that were difficult to read. And I'm not usually a fan of insta-love. And while this isn't my absolute favorite of hers, I still enjoyed reading Rory & Mal's story.
It was a kinda romcom kinda drama and angst type read. But quite a few things that may trigger readers including cheating, drug and alcohol use & abuse, rape, and death. Some of what the main and side characters did was awful and unforgivable. But I liked seeing stuff in multiple person's POV- and not just the main characters but some of the side characters also!
Mal's and Rory's relationship wasn't perfect. They didn't always mesh- and they kept secrets from each other that if they had told each other sooner, would have worked out in their favors!
All-in-all, it was still a good read, and I enjoyed their story and journey. 4 punk-rock ⭐ out of 5⭐.

Weekly Newsletter: February 2

Hope everyone has a good couple weeks. I know it says weekly Newsletter & I know I have been taking two weeks each time to put out one 😂😂 I *want* it to be every week, but January is just super crazy over here. - but we'll see once things settle down some if it will stay every other week or if I switch to every week or not 😂😂.  This week, I got my preorder of Onyx Storm in (bday present), and we did my daughter's 10th bday party- she did bowling & invited a ton of friends! She also had a field trip to go skiing earlier in the week too which she liked.  Also here are the vibes I bring to the function but truthfully I probably won't go to the function - I am an introvert & don't people very well 😂😂 but it was a fun challenge to do on IG & TT either way. Do we share anything in common?  What I Read This Week:  Title: Onyx Storm  Series: The Empyrean  Author: Rebecca Yarros Review | Goodreads | Purchase Quote: “I am yours and you ...

Weekly Newsletter - June 27

So this past weekend my aunt passed away.  But on a more positive note, this was my daughter's last week of school. She had half days all week and now she is home for summer break until after Labor Day in September.  And I finished up two books. We started rewatching Dexter, and watching season two of Perfect Match.  What I Read This Week:  Title: Leather & Lark Series: The Ruinous Love trilogy Author: Brynne Weaver   Release Date: June 04 So I love these characters, but this story had a lot of fluff, and at the end felt a little rushed. 4⭐ out of 5⭐.  See Full Review Here .  Title: Lights Out  Author: Navessa Allen   Rereleases August 06, 2024  I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It was fun, and sexy and a great, quick read. 4.5 ⭐ out of 5⭐.  See Full Review Here What I Watched This Week:  What I Listened To This Week:  Weekly Meme:    Recent Releases  | Upcoming Releases  |  Freebies Title:...

Weekly Newsletter - June 13

As my daughter's school year is winding down, they are trying to cram more things in it - from chorus concerts, to a play, to fun days, and field trips and parties... So it's been a bit hectic.  Also, last Thursday went to run errands before my daughter's chorus concert, & to grab Leather & Lark from Walmart (live in a small town. Walmart is the only place to buy books locally). And they were completely sold out 😭 So I ordered it online (Amazon "2 day shipping" still takes a week 😒). Plus I got a book last week - only UPS left it in a puddle. 😭 We were all home. Could have knocked or even honked or SOMETHING - but no. So also waiting on the replacement for that was well.  Also, I tried to convince my husband we needed to go to B&N in NYC (which is like 7 hours south of us give or take 😂😂) to meet Brynne Weaver to no success.  Annnddd... I tried the challenge of getting my husband to buy my wishlist for me for likes on social media... He wouldn...
