Review: the Plight Before Christmas

Title: the Plight Before Christmas

Author: Kate Stewart

Release Date: December 19th

BLURB:
Clark Griswold was onto something, at least with his annual holiday meltdown. And since the last three weeks of my life have been riddled with humbug—another breakup, a broken toe, an office promotion I deserved and didn’t get—I’m not at all in the mood to celebrate nor have the happ, happ, happiest Christmas EVER.

When Mom insisted that we all gather at my Grandparent’s ancient cabin for an old school family Christmas, I fully intended to get into the holiday spirit with the help of the three wise men, Johnnie Walker, Jack Daniels, and Jim Beam. But those boys did absolutely nothing to offset the shock or temper the sting of seeing my EX on our doorstep the first day of our holiday soiree.

Apparently, Santa missed the memo, and this elf is pissed.

Stuck for a week with the man who obliterated my heart nearly two decades ago, I did the only thing I could do and put on my game face, thankful for the home advantage.

I knew better than to drink that last cup of eggnog.

I knew better than to get tongue tangled beneath the mistletoe with the only man to ever break my heart.

I knew better than to sleep with Satan’s wingman on the eve of the Lord’s birthday.

I could blame the nog. I could blame the deceitful light blue eyes, thick, angelic hair, and panty evaporating smirk…but mostly, I blame Eli because he always knew exactly which of my buttons to push.

I foolishly thought a family Christmas filled with nostalgia was going to turn my inner Scrooge around, but this year’s festivities went up in flames. Leave it to the ghost of my Christmas past to be the one to light the match.

Fa la la la la, la FML.

Grab a cup of spiked egg nog or hot chocolate, get cozy under a blanket or by a fire and light those Christmas lights, because the Plight Before Christmas is the perfect Christmas story.

Whitney has been having a string of bad luck lately, so she was looking forward to spending Christmas vacation with her family only to discover, her bad luck isn't over. Her brother brings home a new co-worker who didn't have anywhere else to go for the holidays. But that new co-worker, just happens to be her college ex boyfriend.
Now she is stuck in a cabin with her family, and her ex, her broken down car in the driveway and no where to go. Can she forgive him and move on from their past, or will this be a Christmas to remember?

I am not usually one to pick up and read a Christmas book, personally Christmas isn't my favorite time of year. But, this book right here, is perfect. It seriously has all the makings of not only a great Christmas story, but it's a second chance romance that not only will have you laughing, but also will have you swooning and then some. It's a delicious, heart warming, slow burn that is mixed with the perfect amount of comedy and drama. It is relatable and spicy and so much more. If you are looking for a book to distract you from the holidays then I definitely recommend this book. 5⭐ out of 5⭐.

Review: Bad Little Bride

Title: Bad Little Bride Series: Girls of Greyson Author: Meagan Brandy Release Date: January 7, 2025 Degradation of the Desperate Daughter. That could be the theme song to my life.  Always second choice. Second best. Second born. Maybe that’s what possessed me to track down my father’s most formidable enemy, the infamous Enzo Fikile. He’s the nation’s most eligible bachelor, and the crime world I was born into’s biggest threat, but not because he wants to tear it down. I’m engaged to the man the rest of the world fears and there’s no going back. I expect to be tossed in a tower and left there, but my future husband has other plans. Dangerous ones.
