Review: Part-Time Lover

Title: Part- Time Lover
Author: Lauren Blakely
Releases: June 1st, 2018
Blurb:

A sexy new standalone romance from #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Lauren Blakely!
I’ll say this about Christian — he made one hell of a first impression.
When I first saw the strapping man, he was doing handstands naked on a dock along the canal. His crown jewels were far more entertaining than anything else I’d seen on the boat tour, so I did what any curious woman would do — I took his photo. I might have looked at the shot a few dozen times. Little did I know I’d meet him again, a year later, at a secret garden bar in the heart of the city, where I’d learn that his mind and his mouth were even more captivating. But given the way my heart had been trampled, I wanted only a simple deal — No strings. No expectations.
Our arrangement worked well enough until the day I needed a lot more from him…
***
Let me just say, this whole part-time lover thing was her idea. I’d have gone all-in from the start, but hey, when a gorgeous, brilliant woman invites you into her bed, and only her bed…well, I said yes.
But then, one hysterical phone call from my brother later, begging me to find myself a wife so grandfather’s business stays in the family, and I need a promotion with Elise. Turns out a full-time husband suits her needs too, and a temporary marriage of convenience ought to do the trick, until we can simply untie the knot…
As long as no one finds out…
As long as no one gets hurt…
As long as no one falls in love…
But our ending was one I never saw coming.

Review:

Christian and Elise met by chance- he was doing a handstand naked on his docks while she was on a boat touring Copenhagen.
It was a year later before they met again. In Paris.
They had a no strings relationship until they needed more. A temporary marriage out of convenience. But when the clock starts ticking down, are Christian and Elise able to keep their emotions in check? Will the part-time lovers ignite, or burn out?
Let me say Lauren Blakely is a new to me author. After reading the blurb, my interest was intrigued and I had to know what happens next. Of course, my Kindle had decided to give me hell (yet again, I might add)- but I persisted so I could read this book!
I loved the banter and playfulness between Christian and Elise. I adore Elise, and her drive and ambitions. How despite what life threw her way, she still was bold, fierce, and wanted to seize the day. I understood her wariness about fate, and love. But loved that despite that she was still caring, still put herself out there, and still was able to take charge. And I enjoyed how unconventional Elise and Christians dates were.
It was a great, fun, sexy and light read. 4⭐ out of 5⭐.

Reread: Broken Bonds

Title: Broken Bonds  Series: Bonds That Tie  Author: J Bree Release Date: June 2021 After the death of my mother and her Bonded, I was relieved to find my own Bonds. I was sure everything would be okay if I had them. It wasn’t. The fate of our people is in my hands and I know we’re better off if I’m alone. After five years on the run, I’m caught and dragged back to face the men I ran away from. I thought I was doing the right thing. Now, I’m not so sure. North, Nox, Gryphon, Atlas, and Gabe may never forgive me but one thing is for sure.
