Title: Miss
Series: a #bittersweetheat stand-alone
Author: Harloe Rae
Blurb:
A #BitterSweetHeat standalone.
Delilah Sage was my comfort within all the pain.
Offering open arms when I needed an escape.
The only one trusted to be there for me.
But our dreams were doomed from the start.
And I left her clinging to false hope.
Regret has plagued me for years.
The memories of Delilah refuse to fade.
Each second of every day, I want to claim her as mine.
But I won’t ruin her life.
And she’s better off without me.
When a job lands me in town, I plan to keep my distance.
My scars are mine alone.
Dredging up the past will only cause deeper damage.
But Delilah has always been my weakness.
And resisting her isn’t an option.
After all, there’s far too much for us to miss.
Review:
This is the second standalone book in the #bittersweetheat series, following the events after Gent. Reading Gent first isn't required, but definitely recommended.
Miss follows Delilah- the owner of Jitters coffeehouse in the small town of Garden Grove. This is where Delilah has grown up,and where she calls home. But what happens when her past finds her in the form of piercing blue eyes that she hasn't seen in years? With all the memories, broken promises, and false hope, lying between them will their be second chances or will the hurt, anger, and regret be too much for them to bare?
Zeke has been out of Garden Grove for five years. But when a job has landed him back in the town he grew up in, he has to see Delilah again. Her memory has refused to fade away, plaguing his mind every day. But she is better offeithout him in her life. She has went off to college, been successful and own her own business. What could Zeke offer her, besides the reminder of their past?
This was such a fun, sweet second-chance romance. We get a look into Delilah's life, her job at Jitters, and why her love life seemed to have been going through a dry spell. Will Delilah finally get the answers she had been looking for when it comes to Zeke? Or will his presence in town be too much for Delilah?
I loved Delilah's character. She was strong, sassy, honest, and independent. She stands up for what she believes in, and does what is right by her.
And I loved Zeke, he was funny, romantic, dirty, and strong- both physically and mentally. He has been through so much in his past, and yet still fights each day. When it comes to Delilah, he just wants to do right by her, and protect her even if it's from himself.
Delilah and Zeke's story was such a great read. 4.5 ⭐ out of 5⭐.
