Review: the Fae King's Curse

Title: the Fae King's Curse

Series: Between Dawn and Dusk

Author: Jamie Schlosser

Release Date: April 2020

Blurb:

Kirian and I were just twelve years old when I pulled him from the icy waters of the creek behind my house. As he looked in my direction with unseeing lavender eyes, I quickly realized our age was just about the only thing we had in common. He spoke with an accent, he had pointy ears, and he was so beautiful it made my heart ache. Oh, and he claimed to be a fae prince cursed by witches who stole his sight.

I thought he was crazy from hypothermia. Turns out, he wasn’t, and for some reason he keeps coming back. But a day in my world is a year in his. Every time I see him, he’s older. Wiser. Hotter.

Over the past six years, I’ve tried not to fall in love with him because the terms of the curse are clear: If he doesn’t wait for his fated mate in all ways, including an innocent (or not-so-innocent) kiss, he’ll be blind forever.

So when Kirian kisses me and pulls me through the portal to his realm, I make it my mission to do some damage control. It’d be a whole lot easier if he wasn’t determined to marry me... And if someone wasn’t trying to murder me every step of the way.

Wow! Where do I begin with this book?

So, I've been in a funk for over a week, on top of being busy trying to prepare for my daughter's birthday. But I got the urge to read and was scrolling through KU, and found this book.

A King's Curse by Jamie Schlosser. It follows Kirian, and Quinn who met when they were only twelve years old. Quinn pulls a young Kirian out of the river. Kirian was beautiful, had pointy ears, talked with an accent, and claimed he was cursed by witches, and was now blind. And yet, Quinn couldn't stay away. She made him promise to come back the following day- but a day in her world is a year in his. So every time he returns, he's older, wiser, and hotter.

Quinn tries not to fall in love with Kirian, because the terms of the curse is clear- if Kirian doesn't wait for his fated mate, he will remain blind forever.

But when Quinn turns eighteen, Kirian kisses her, sealing his fate, then pulls her through his portal into his world, where Kirian is set on marrying her, and someone is set on murdering her.

I was looking for a book to pass the time, and pull me out of my funk, and this was it. I love getting lost in fantasy worlds and falling for paranormal men. What better world to get lost in, then that of the Fae, where they are beautiful but ruthless. Kirian is a king in his world- who is cursed with the loss of his sight, and must find his mate to lift the curse. Quinn will do anything to help him, even if it costs her very life in doing so. They are best friends, and an unlikely pair- Kirian a Fae King, and Quinn a lonely human, but together they have something special, but is it enough to make it out alive and find a way to break the curse?

This book was amazing. Filled with love, friendship, danger, and royalty. I'm looking forward to started the next in the series and learning about the Dream King next.

4.5 ⭐ out of 5⭐.
