Review: Pestilence

Title: Pestilence

Series: the Four Horsemen

Author: Laura Thalassa

Release Date: March 2018

They came to earth--Pestilence, War, Famine, Death--four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.

When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed.

Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed.

Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her … and hers towards him.

And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she'll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse has come to the world. And Sara stays behind in her hometown to try and stop Pestilence from spreading the plague and killing off the human-race. She shoots him off his stead, only to find out, that Pestilence can't be killed. Now she is his prisoner, and he plans on making her suffer. But the longer they are together, the more she questions his feelings towards her, and hers towards him. Sara may still be able to save the world, sacrificing her heart in the process... But will it be enough?
"Why did you have to ruin the world?” the horseman retorts. “I didn’t.” “You did. Just as I don’t have to touch each man to kill him, nor do you have to personally light the world on fire to be the reason it burns."

So I had this book on my kindle for way too long and finally decided to read it. Them one-star reviews calling this torture porn were wrong. 🙄 Seriously... I've read torture porn... This ain't it 😂😂

The Four Horsemen are on Earth, planning on ending mankind. Pestilence's purpose is to wander the lands spreading the plague and ending human kind as we know it. And Sara is along for the ride, forced to watch, and suffer, but uneffected by the plague itself. Can she stop Pestilence before it's too late?

Sara loves literature. Loves Shakespeare, and Edgar Allen Poe. But she couldn't pursue english, instead becoming a firefighter to help save the people in her town.

Pestilence is otherworldly. Riding on his white stead with gold armor and a gold crown utop his head. He doesn't believe that humans can be saved. They are destructive and filled with hate. Sara proves his point when she shoots him off his horse. But, can Sara prove to Pestilence that their is beauty in the human race also? That they are worth saving?

"I came to conquer this land and its people, but instead, one of its people conquered me."

I enjoyed this book- reading about the end of days. (Although maybe reading it in the midst of a pandemic isn't the best choice, because it hits a little too close to home). I loved Sara, and even felt for Pestilence, despite him spreading Plague across the lands. If you dont mind reading about the plague I definitely recommend it... Just don't go looking for torture porn, because you won't find it here unfortunately 😂😂 still an amazing read, and I cannot wait to continue with the story of the other Horsemen. 4.5 ⭐ out of 5 ⭐.
