But love and war cannot coexist with one another, so now Miriam is faced with an impossible choice- to surrender and watch the world as she knows it fall around her, or sacrifice everything to try and stop War. 

This book takes place a few years after the end of Pestilence. The Horsemen War comes to Earth to end mankind. He is violent, imposing, and strikes fear into all who see him. He doesn't concede much, but what little he gives, he gives to Miriam. Miriam lived alone in the city. She made weapons to sell so she could survive. She was a fighter, a survivor- but she didn't agree with War slaughtering those around her. She was brave, but even she feared the Horseman. And yet, to her he was kind. But was his kindness enough for Miriam to surrender everything she believed in? 

I enjoyed this book much like the last, and cannot wait to read the next. 4 ⭐ out of 5⭐.
