Review: War

Title: War

Series: The Four Horsemen

Author: Laura Thalassa

Release Date:

They came to earth—Pestilence, War, Famine, Death—four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.

The day Jerusalem falls, Miriam Elmahdy knows her life is over. Houses are burning, the streets run red with blood, and a traitorous army is massacring every last resident. There is no surviving this, especially not once Miriam catches the eye of War himself. But when the massive and terrifying horseman corners Miriam, he calls her his wife, and instead of killing her, he takes her back to his camp.

Now Miriam faces a terrifying future, one where she watches her world burn town by town, and the one man responsible for it all is her seemingly indestructible “husband”. But there’s another side to him, one that’s gentle and loving and dead set on winning her over, and she might not be strong enough to resist.

However, if there’s one thing Miriam has learned, it’s that love and war cannot coexist. And so she must make the ultimate choice: surrender to War and watch humankind fall, or sacrifice everything and stop him.

Miriam watches her city fall around her, the streets lined with bodies and blood. War has come to Jerusalem, and has his eyes set on her. But instead of killing her where she stands, he takes her back to camp, calling her his wife. She has a terrible and terrifying future ahead of her, watching the world burn town by town, city by city, and the man responsible for it all is her unstoppable husband. But War also has another side to him. Where he is dead-set on winning Miriam over. The side that is loving and gentle... And Miriam my not be able to resist. But love and war cannot coexist with one another, so now Miriam is faced with an impossible choice- to surrender and watch the world as she knows it fall around her, or sacrifice everything to try and stop War.

This book takes place a few years after the end of Pestilence. The Horsemen War comes to Earth to end mankind. He is violent, imposing, and strikes fear into all who see him. He doesn't concede much, but what little he gives, he gives to Miriam. Miriam lived alone in the city. She made weapons to sell so she could survive. She was a fighter, a survivor- but she didn't agree with War slaughtering those around her. She was brave, but even she feared the Horseman. And yet, to her he was kind. But was his kindness enough for Miriam to surrender everything she believed in?

I enjoyed this book much like the last, and cannot wait to read the next. 4 ⭐ out of 5⭐.
