Q & A with Dr. Rebecca Sharp
Question:
What has been one of your favorite books to write to date?
Answer:
Hmm. That's a tough one. Some books are easier to write than others. Some are quicker. Some are a struggle to really flesh out the characters or the story when it's very emotional and it takes a lot out of me. But as far as a favorite, that's hard to say. I write the books I need to write in the moment, so they were all my favorite at one point or another.

Question:
How do you select the names of your characters?
Answer:
It depends. I have a list of names that I think are cool that I come across randomly and will use for characters. Other times, I end up giving a name to a secondary character and not realizing they're going to end up with their own story. For the Odyssey Duet, I came across the name Troian awhile ago because I watch Suits, and the one main actor married Troian Bellisario and I just thought the name was so beautiful and so unique and knew I had to use it for a character somewhere.

Question:
What has been your favorite guy or girl that you have written to date?
Answer:
Well, most of my released books right now involve alpha-holes, so out of those, I would say I really loved writing Nick Frost from In Too Deep and Leo from the Odyssey Duet, just because of their amount of asshole deliciousness but also the heart underneath. As far as not alpha-holes, I really love the hero of my next release, Ash Tyler. (He is Blake's brother in Reputation.) And he did a lot of asshole things in that story, but *his* story is all about redemption (which is the title), so watching his journey and how he takes care of the woman he never thought himself good enough for was really special. Also, I have a character Mick Madison, you may recall him as one of Jessa's twin brothers from Enjoy the Ride. I have a new series coming out next year and he is in the second book. And he is this giant, super swoon super alpha who really encourages his woman (I can't give away her name yet) to follow her heart and walk away from a situation that is really toxic and yeah, he's just really swoony and I love him.
For favorite girl, I'd have to say either Blake from Reputation or Troy from the Odyssey Duet. To me they are the realest women I've written, which it why I think the reviews on them swing so widely. They have weakness - intrinsic ones - not ones that happen externally from life. And I know some readers don't like them for those weaknesses because they want a *real* story but they want a heroine who is completely strong and perfect in every way, and, to me, that's not real. We all have flaws - character flaws - too stubborn, too easily forgiving, puts up with too much - but that's life. That's real. And I like to create those characters, too.
Question:
What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?
Answer:
It depends on the book! The two that I'm writing right now, I'm having to research a bit of different and really interesting things for each. I love researching for books. I, personally, like to learn things when I'm reading - even if it's something small. That's one of the biggest things I love about Diana Gabaldon. When I read the Outlander series, I felt like I was wrapping a gift of both history and fiction tied together with an epic romance. I'm not at that level yet, but I like writing books where not just the characters, but the storyline revolves around something the reader may not know about.
Question:
Judgment of Paris is due to release on July 9th. What was your inspiration behind Troy and Leo?
Answer:
I really wanted to write a student-professor romance and it was one of those stories that just sparked and grew as I wrote. Some books, I know where they are going to end up and I'm just filling in the middle, but with Troy and Leo, their story just unravelled as I went, almost as though I were living it with them, and that was super cool.
Question:
What was the hardest part to write in the Odyssey duet? In any of your previous books?
Answer:
The hardest part in the Odyssey Duet was writing the scenes were Troy still wanted Leo even after he was a jerk to her. Because I felt her pain but also the depth of how much she wanted him. Also, on a different level, they were hard because I knew they would be the most controversial parts for readers. Many people struggle to understand, not just characters, but other people who don't make the same decisions they would. So that was hard knowing people may not agree with her.

Question:
What part was the most fun to write in the Odyssey duet? In any of your previous books?
Answer:
Most of the scenes in Paris, just because I love the city and any excuse I can have to daydream about the place is perfect! The Chapelle is my favorite place in the city, so that scene was really fun and delicious. It's not as well known of an attraction since most people stop at Notre Dame and skip over it (again, one of those learning things I hope readers will remember if they get a chance to go to Paris and will take the time to see it!)

Question:
Was there anything that you had edited out of Judgment of Paris?
Answer:
No, actually, the first draft of the manuscript was only 75K words and ended up at about 105K, so I added a whole lot (and an epilogue!)
Question:
Was there a playlist that inspired some of the scenes or the couple in Judgment of Paris?
Answer:
I don't really have playlists for my books. Sometimes, I'll find a song or two that really *fits* but I don't typically listen to music when I write. I prefer silence or maybe classical music. Lyrics tend to distract me.
Question:
Do you ever read your books after they are released?
Answer:
No :) And I especially can't listen to the audiobooks! It's just too weird. So, I have a few trusted bloggers who get the audio files and let me know if everything sounds okay. LOL
Question:
Do you have any other books planned out for the future?
Answer:
Yes! I currently have all of my 2020 novels written, so I'm actually writing in 2021 right now. As a self-published author with a full-time job, the process of writing, editing, promoting, marketing, takes so much time. I'd probably be writing into 2030 if all I had to do was write lol. Anyway, I write a lot faster than I can release, so the answer to your question is definitely yes. But I have to be patient and give each of my little book babies their turn.

Do you snack on anything while writing or reading?
Answer:
Hmm... coffee. LOL. I tend to forget about eating. Or pretty much everything while I'm writing. So coffee. Or tea.

Question:
When you aren't writing what are you up to?
Answer:
My husband and I always joke that we're working even when we're not working haha. I'm a full-time dentist and we own 2 practices, so that takes up a good chunk of my time. And aside from writing, there are all those other tasks I mentioned above as part of the release process that I spend a lot of time on. So really, outside of author-life and dentist-life, I don't have time for too much else. My husband and I love to travel so we try to fit that in every few months. In the winter we make time to go snowboarding which is super fun and the inspiration for my Winter Games series. Other hobbies that I love but just don't have time for right now are: cooking, knitting, painting.

What is one of your favorite songs that you can play on repeat?
Answer:
Pretty much any Taylor Swift song! I also love country music soooo anything there would probably work, too.

Question:
What is one of your favorite books (or author) that you have read? What is a book you are looking forward to reading?
Answer:
The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. No question. She is my hero. I also love JR Ward and her Black Dagger Brotherhood. For the classics, I love Jane Austen and Francis Burney. For contemporary indies, I love LJ Shen and K Webster and I'm looking forward to their upcoming releases!
Thank you Dr. Rebecca Sharp for taking part in the Q&A! Hope you had as much fun answering the questions as I did coming up with them, and reading your answers!!

The Fall of Troy
Odyssey duet book 1
BLURB
From bestselling author Dr. Rebecca Sharp comes an enemies-to-lovers epic romance with a forbidden twist...
Love is angry. Love is blind.
Love is envious and loathful. And I loathed Léo Baudin. My new art professor. My enemy.
I didn’t move to Rhode Island for this. I came to forget the Troian Milanovic I’d left behind and start fresh where the damage and betrayal couldn’t follow.
But Professor Baudin wouldn’t let me.
Cold. Caustic. Captivating. He didn’t just push my buttons…
He lit them all up with the indifferent smirk of an aristocratic French asshole.
But how much I loathed him only made my need for him stronger.
To have him would be either victory or loss. There would be no compromise.
To have him would be war.
So I fought back.
But I was Troy. And he was the wooden horse, full of dangerous secrets I never saw coming.
I was the one who invited him inside my walls, celebrating without seeing through his disguise.
And under the cover of darkness, he laid siege to my body, my mind, and finally, my heart.
The first may be a myth, but this time the history books would show that if Troy fell, it was with her all.
The Fall of Troy is the first book in the Odyssey Duet.

Love is honorable but selfish. Love is a record of my wrongs.
Love had fractured in trials but held on for the truth.
And the truth was he’d hurt me, yet I loved him. He’d left me, yet I followed him.But I was done with Léo Baudin. And as soon as the semester was over, I would be done with Paris. But until then, I would learn the rest of his secrets. The ones they whispered about behind his back. The ones that had the entire city watching his every move. The ones that held him hostage. But to know his secrets meant to know him. And to know him was to fall further for the man who’d already hurt me so much.I hated him for breaking my heart, but I should’ve learned by now that the things we loathe become the things we love. And just when I thought there was nothing left to keep us apart, the ghosts of his past came back to life with a truth neither of us could have expected. And lies that neither of us could imagine. As each layer unraveled, the choice between power and wisdom and love grew greater. And the consequences of our decision would be the judgment of this city. But when all else fails, love always hopes. Against all odds, love always perseveres.
The Judgment of Paris is the second book in the Odyssey Duet. It is necessary to read The Fall of Troy (Book 1) first.

Channing
They say how far you go is directly correlated to how much you are willing to risk.As a snowboarder, I was used to risking a lot - specifically life and limb every time I flew down the mountain and into the air.
This time though, I was risking it all. I’d already lost so much. Winning was all I had left.
The truth? I hadn’t been invited to the X Games, but my brother had. Beneath my snow clothes, mask, helmet, and goggles, who was going to be able to tell that it wasn’t Chance Ryder competing for the gold, but me, his twin sister?
The risk? The one man who could teach me what I needed to win was the one man I would be competing against.
The problem? I was falling for that very man. Hard.
And I never fell.
Especially when there was no snow to cushion my landing.
Wyatt
Wyatt Olsen always wins. That’s how the world knows me.I was the best. The X Games, the Snowboarding Open, the Olympics.
I won everything - everything except the race against time, against age.
That, I had lost.
This was my last competition and I had no idea what was next.
My future was completely up in the air.
Until Channing Ryder crashed into my boards and my life.
She gave me purpose.
The only thing left for me to win was her.
Up in the Air is a standalone novel and the first book in the Winter Games series.

Alice Ryder came with more warning signs than a museum exhibit.
Under twenty-one. Best friend’s baby sister. Heartbroken.
I was only supposed to keep an eye on her and keep my hands to myself.
But her sunshine sucked me in.
Why did she have to want me? Why did she have to want me to save her?
I wasn’t her savior. I wasn’t the prince in her fairytale.
I was only the asshole in shining armor.
Losing so much had taught me that it’s easier to just give up the things you care about before they are taken.
Because you can’t lose what you don’t have.
I gave up the warmth of the sun and sand hoping that the cold, snowy mountains of Colorado would be able to numb whatever feelings I had left and bury the pieces of my heart under the frost.

Small-town girl. America’s Sweetheart.
The biggest popstar in the world.
It began with one guy and then the next.
Until my reputation preceded me.
Yes, I dated them - all of them.
Yes, I also broke up with them. All of them.
Was it too much? The world said yes. Too many, too quickly.
And my star began to flicker.
The world knew nothing about my life and yet, their judgment weighed on me like stone.
My reputation was falling faster than a shooting star and the only way to save it was with the boy who never wanted me.
Zach Parker was a singer, songwriter, and sexy as sin.
To him, I was just the neighbor’s little sister.
A pest that had grown into a famous annoyance.
Zach Parker wanted nothing to do with me.
But he could be tempted - with a stepping stone to fame, that is.
The plan was simple: Childhood Sweethearts Fall in Love on US Tour.
The plan was to let them see what they wanted to see: our ‘romance’ blossom right in front of their eyes.
A romance that Zach had made painfully clear to me years ago would never exist.
I’m told that it was the only thing that could repair my image.
So, every night I’ll stand on that stage and give Zach my heart piece by piece, note by note.
We’ll give them a show they’ll never forget - and a love story that I may not survive.
Because who cares that in order to put my reputation back together, I’ll have to tear my heart apart?

My life had been a series of unfortunate events:
Some of them out of my control, some of them entirely my fault.
I was only weeks away from being able to take my daughter and
finally be free from the past that had imprisoned us.
And then Tamsin Lucas showed up on my doorstep,
looking every inch the innocent angel yet begging to be ruined.
I told myself I could live not knowing her secrets or the reason for her hurt.
And I swore I could survive never touching her again.
Until I needed her to homeschool my daughter.
Now, every day, I’m fighting to rein in my desire for the woman who’s always been perfect
and protect her from those who are out to destroy me.
Tammy was too good to want someone like me.
But what if I was too bad to care to stay away?

Making the right choice was the slogan for my life and the motto for my soul,
until all the right decisions led to a very wrong result.
In the moment when life felt like a catastrophe,
I ran to him. Nick Frost.
The callous man who was colder than the mountain
and possessed more secrets than it did snowflakes.
For one night, I traded sense for sensibility
and my well-kept order for his comfortable chaos.
I thought one night and one wrong choice would be enough
until he became my boss and wrong began to look a lot like right.
With every day that passes, I learn there’s more to his story than the world knows
and more to the unquenchable desire being written between us.
Nick was too bad to want someone like me.

Reputation
BLURB
