Review: Bad Little Bride

Title: Bad Little Bride

Series: Girls of Greyson

Author: Meagan Brandy

Release Date: January 7, 2025

Degradation of the Desperate Daughter.

That could be the theme song to my life.

Always second choice. Second best. Second born.

Maybe that’s what possessed me to track down my father’s most formidable enemy, the infamous Enzo Fikile.

He’s the nation’s most eligible bachelor, and the crime world I was born into’s biggest threat, but not because he wants to tear it down.

No. This man wants to claim his place within it and if the whispers working their way around are anything to go by, he’s well on his way.

And I just offered him a golden ticket, one he accepted with an unexpected spark in his eye. We signed our marriage contract that night, and the deal with the devil was done.

I’m engaged to the man the rest of the world fears and there’s no going back.

I expect to be tossed in a tower and left there, but my future husband has other plans. Dangerous ones.

He wants the world to believe our love is real and not bargained, but he says even that’s not enough.

He wants me to convince him.

What was supposed to be a simple arrangement spirals into something more, and before I know it, I’m caught in his web, secrets spinning all around me.

I hate him as much as I crave him, but as enemies close in from the most unlikely of places, I realize something.

No one is allowed to hurt my husband.

Except, of course … me.

Holy Guacamole Batman!!! Where do I even begin?!

Boston Revenaw always thought of herself as less than, as the weaker twin to Rocklin. So when an opportunity arose to marry the only guy who rivals her father she took it.

She went to Enzo, contract in hand, and they formed a marriage of convenience. Their union would tie the two together, ending the fued between Boston's father, and Enzo Fikile. He may have been the most eligible bachelor in their world, and the biggest threat, but now she was his.

Boston is now engaged to the man the rest of the world fears, and there is no going back.

What was supposed to be a simple arrangement, ends up spiraling into something more. Boston hates Enzo as much as she craves him. But with secrets and enemies closing in from the most unlikely of places, she has to decide if she will hold on to the life she gave up, making a deal with the devil, or accept her new life, and place at the drvil's side.

Holy Taledo Batman. This book was every-freaking-thing and I absolutely posolutely loved every single second of it.

Boston always thought she was second best in everything growing up. The second choice. The weaker twin. Her sister was the perfect daughter her dad dreamed of. She became one of the Greyson Girls, and was set to take her father's place when the time was right. So Boston rebelled. She was rash, impulsive. She did things without thinking them all the way through- which is how she found herself at the hands of Enzo Fikile. Sure, she hunted him down, drew up the contract, and signed her life away to her father's enemy in hopes of bringing peace between the two. But she knew, if she didn't act, she would have been forced to marry someone her father chose for her.

She may not have been strong like Rocklin who was set to lead the mafia family, but she was still strong and resilient in her own way. And I loved everything about her. She wasn't as weak as others thought her to be. She wasn't perfect, she was impulsive and bratty and had a psycho side, but she was real. And I loved the banter between her and Enzo, and the build up and tension.

Enzo was dark, and ruthless, and possessive of what was his - which now included Boston. She was his, and he wasn't letting her go.

I loved Bad Little Bride and I can't wait to see what is next for the Girls of Greyson world!!

5⭐ out of 5⭐.

4🌶️ out of 5🌶️.

PS- while not necessary - I recommend reading Brayshaw series, Pretty Little Pawn, & Tempting Little Thief before Bad Little Bride 😉

Reread: Tempting Little Thief

Title: Tempting Little Thief

Series: Girls of Greyson

Author: Meagan Brandy

Release Date: June 2023

From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Meagan Brandy comes an all-new forbidden romance featuring a possessive hero … who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. I fell for a man I'm not allowed to have…

He’s rough, rugged, and utterly unpredictable. He’s not cautious or contemplative. He’s a volcano. Silent and steady one second, and a complete nightmare in the next. But that’s not the worst of it. This guy? He’s an outsider and in my world outsiders don’t belong. They’re unwanted, unwelcome and known to disappear without a trace, yet he doesn’t seem to care. After one night of reckless rebellion, the tattooed tyrant keeps coming back, sneaking into my world without permission, and causing trouble I can’t allow. I should end this now before my father discovers his existence and does it for me, but he won’t allow it. He says, like it or not, I’m his now, that nothing and no one will stand in his way. Not even me…

Gahhh, even after all this time I still absolutely love Bastian Bishop!
So we first meet Bass in the Brayshaw series & he's the go-to man, the lackey & hired help.
This book takes place along side the series. Bass starts out the same, only wanting to get his sister into a better place - that is until he meets her. Rocklin. She isn't what she seems. Preppy rich girl, driving an expensive car. She first lays eyes on him standing over a body, and doesn't bat an eye. Then steals from him. Daughter of a kingpin, she's everything he's not. And everything he wants. His eyes are set on her. And he goes from thinking of nothing but trying to obtain a better life for his sister, to wanting something for himself. But obtaining Rocklin Revenaw may be more difficult than either were expecting. Blackmail, rivilaing mafias, and secrets threaten to tear them apart. But Bastian will stop at nothing to claim what is his.
I picked up PLP & TLT in preparation for Bad Little Bride that is releasing soon & I can't wait. I love the Girls of Greyson world. The darker, grittier side. I love Bass & Rocklin 's story - I have loved Bass since he first traced the pages of Boys of Brayshaw High & I couldn't wait to read more about him. (If you haven't yet read the series I highly recommend it!) He may have been a poor punk from the wrong side of town, with a rough childhood, trying to find his own place in the world. Which he found beside Rocklin. Rocklin was more than just the preppy Rich girl. She was strong and could hold her own against anyone. But was also looking for something outside of what she was used to. The two may have been complete opposites - but they worked.
If you like dark academia, then I recommend these books.

Inside look: They don’t call us divine for no reason...

Legend has it the women who grace the halls of Greyson Manor were crafted by the Gods but kissed by their enemies. Cunning, in every sense of the word, and we are.

But never without reason and only ever with purpose.

And mine wears white tonight, hides a flask in his jacket pocket, and likes to hunt for what he hungers.

It just so happens my dearest Alto is his flavor of choice, and I ... will be the item in his way. They call him a walking nightmare. I think I’ll call him mine.

To play with, that is...

___

This is a New Adult romance set at a prestigious prep school. This short story, previously part of the BULLY GOD anthology, and currently a book event exclusive that can not be purchased anywhere else. It is MFM, spicy, and a sweet little into into the world of Greyson Prep.

So, I have been in a bit of a slump, and come the holidays and birthdays season my reading really slows down. But I finally decided to pick up The Assassin's Blade from the Throne of Glass series. I originally planned on reading both AB & ToG, before I had arcs to read, but it didn't work out that way, and probably won't get to ToG until end of January/early Feb.

The Assassin's Blade is a series of Novellas set before Throne of Glass takes place & follows a few of Celeana's adventures that make her who she is & who she will become.

Celeana may be just a young girl, but she is one of the most feared assassin's and protegee to the King of Assassins.

And as the Protegee, Arobynn, wants her all for himself. So when she concocts a plan that defies Arobynn's orders, she is punished and sent away for months. Now she is left questioning her alligence to Arobynn, her friendship with Sam, another assassin who wanted her top spot, and acquaintances she made along the way. But failing to escape Arobynn's clutches may cost more than just Celeana & Sam's freedom's but their lives...

So firstly, I did enjoy these short stories & Celeana's adventures and growth. I don't know why I have waited so long to read these books, but when I finally got the series in paperback on sale from Walmart, I knew I had to dive in.

Second, who hurt you SJM? 😭😂😂 - I loved Sam, he was one of my favorite characters throughout this book, but something kept me from falling *in* love with him. I had a feeling from the very beginning something may happen, - even though I had went into this book completely blind & surprisingly avoided most spoilers for this entire series - I just knew something was going to happen. I knew, but it was still a gut punch that I wasn't ready for. And probably something I'm not going to get over anytime soon.

So Assassin's Blade sets up the rest of the series for Celeana & a look into what made who who she is. & I am looking forward to diving into Throne of Glass (eventually) & more of this world & what becomes of Celeana.

4 ⭐ out of 5 ⭐.
