Review: The Thing About Love

Title: The Thing About Love
Author: Kim Karr
( May Contain Spoilers)

Synopsis:

An emotional and unforgettable new romance from New York Times bestselling author Kim Karr.

The whole stethoscope-and-white coat thing isn’t my cup of tea.

I prefer a man with an artistic vein in his body. 9 - 5 hours. And I can definitely do without the half-lidded, sleepy bedroom eyes. (Okay, so those are kind of sexy.)

Tall, dark, and handsome doesn’t change the fact that he’s arrogant, cocky, and rude.
Not that I care, but he’s made it clear he wants nothing to do with a quirky girl like me, which is why he said no.

Turns out no isn’t an option.

I have a quickie wedding to plan, and Dr. Jake Kissinger doesn’t have a choice. He looks at our situation like he’s stuck with me, but in reality I’m stuck with him. Stuck with his pouty mouth. His long, lean body. And stuck with those loose, low riding scrub pants. (Okay, so the doctor thing is growing on me.)

When spending time together turns into more than it should, I know I’m in trouble.
He isn’t supposed to make my heart pound.
I’m not supposed to make him look twice.
And we aren’t supposed to spend the night together. (Okay, so he has more than one artistic vein in his body, and other places.)

Falling for him is definitely a mistake.

Here’s the thing…
Jake is unavailable, and I know it.
Just not in the way you might think.

I guess you can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Review::

Ok, first let me say this to get it out of the way. I had a hard time getting fully immersed in the book. The main characters name is Juliette. Don't get me wrong, i love the name, but my daughters name is Juliette so, it pulled me out of the story when it was used. I haven't read Shatter Me yet because the characters name was Juliette- so imagine my surprise to reading a romance book with the same name as my daughter.
Now, with that said, I did enjoy the book otherwise. It was cute, and funny, & pulled emotion from me, and touching, and sexy (even though it was weird since my mind automatically goes to my daughter reading the name).
Juliette works at her uncles wedding planning business, and Jake Kissenger is a doctor, both living in Atlanta. When they first met, Juliette smashed a piece of chocolate cake in his face. Even though she apologized (after all it was a mistake... Sort of), he wasn't too pleased. So, it was safe to bet that he hated her. When she was hired by Dr. Kiss sister to plan the wedding of a lifetime, she and Dr. Kiss had to work together. Both stubborn, him rude, and her smart-ass mouth had this as a recipe for disaster.
Will Dr. Kiss forgive her for the cake incident? And will they ever get on the same page for his sisters sake? And when they learn their pasts are entwined, will it be enough to hold them together?
I give this book 3.5⭐ out of 5⭐. I love books that make me feel- and this book definitely did just that. I did feel that towards the end their relationship flet a bit rushed. Add that to the issue with the name, i couldn't get into it as much as I wanted to. But i did enjoy the book otherwise- and just because i didn't enjoy it as much as i had wanted to, doesn't mean that you won't! If you are into hot doctors? One or both characters with a troubled or sad past, and a cute, funny, sexy, read then you should definitely check out this book!
I received this ARC for an honest review!
