Review: Bane

Title: Bane
Author: LJ Shen
Series: Sinners of Saint
Releases: May 10
Blurb:

A COMPLETE standalone and a Sinners of Saint spin-off.
Bane
Naked surfer. Habitual pothead. A con, a liar, a thief and a fraud.
Last I heard, he was extorting the rich and screwing their wives for a living.
Which is why I’m more than a little surprised to find him at my threshold, looking for my friendship, my services, and most puzzling of all—looking humbled.
Thing is, I’m on a boycott. Literally—I cut boys from my life. Permanently.
Problem is, Bane is not a boy, he is all man, and I’m falling, crashing, drowning in his sweet, perfect lies.
Jesse Carter
Hot as hell, cold as ice.
I wasn’t aware of her existence until a fat, juicy deal landed in my lap.
She’s a part of it, a little plaything to kill some time.
She is collateral, a means to an end, and a side-bonus for striking a deal with her oil tycoon stepdad.
More than anything, Jesse Carter is a tough nut to crack.
Little does she know, I have the teeth for it.

Review:

This. Book. Right. Here.
First, let me say I love LJ Shen. I loved the Sinners of Saint series, and Midnight Blue. I was a little unsure going into Bane. I didn't want to hold her previous work Up as an impossibly high standard that needed to be met- because who the hell can compete with Vicious, and Alex, and Dean- amiright? But, damn, I had nothing to worry about with Bane.
Bane is a liar, a con, a thief, and a fraud. His reputation proceeds him. Everyone in Todos Santos knows of Bane. Even Jesse. When he is looking to expand his business- and persue his dreams, a deal lands perfectly in his lap. One that he just can't refuse. The Catch? Jesse Carter.
Jesse has boycotted all boys from her life- but its more than that. So to say she is a little timid to have Bane storming his way into her life, is an understatement. Bane is 6ft2,well built, has a man-bun, beard, and almost every available inch is covered in tattoos.
"He was no less dangerous than they were. If anything, they were hyenas, and he was a lion, quiet but deadly."
Seriously, this book right here? I am still reeling. At first, I didn't know what to make of Jesse- of what she had been through- because I had been through something similar. So, some of what had happened was hitting close to home. And we know that sensitive topics can be written poorly. But that worry i had was all in my head because this was LJ Shen we are talking about.
I loved Bane. And I loved how Jesse grew- and became so much stronger. This book? Pure Shen Gold. I can't wait until itcan grace my shelves & join the others because i absolutely loved it, despite my wariness going in. It brought on so many feels. It had great side characters (Hello Gail!), of course cameos from a few other characters... Plus some great lines. I think i highlighted my whole book.
Seriously, if you love assholes, surfers, tattooed bad boys? Then you will love Bane. 5⭐ out of 5⭐.
