Review: I Bet You

Title: I Bet You
Author: Ilsa Madden-Mills
Release Date: October 29, 2018

Blurb:

Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills returns with an all-new swoon-fest of a novel about what happens when you look beyond labels and take a chance on love.
Sexy Athlete: I bet you…
Penelope Graham: Burn in hell, quarterback.
The text is random but Penelope figures out exactly who “Sexy Athlete” is. And why she shouldn't take his wager.
Ryker Voss.
Football star.
Walks on water and God's gift to women.
Just ask him.
His bet? He promises Penelope he’ll win her the heart of the guy she’s been crushing on. His plan—good old-fashioned jealousy. Once her crush sees her kissing Ryker, he'll realize what he's missing. Sounds legit, right? The only question is…why is Ryker being so nice to her?
Penelope Graham.
Virgin.
Lover of sparkly vampires and calculus.
His mortal enemy.
Penelope knows she shouldn’t trust a jock, but what’s a girl to do when she needs a date to Homecoming? And Ryker’s keeping a secret, another bet, one that could destroy Penelope’s heart forever.
Will the quarterback score the good girl or will his secrets mean everyone loses this game of love?
*Author's Note: This is a standalone sports romance with an HEA.

**You do not have to have read I Dare You, although you should if you love jocks and nerdy heroines. Xo

Review:

So I had meant to read I Dare You before I Bet You (even though they are standalones), and had set aside time to do so (which I normally don't do.) But I had been stressing so much about finishing up our Halloween costumes that I am making by hand. If you haven't noticed my blogging definitely took a hit, since I have been trying to finish everything in time. Then when I got I Bet You on my Kindle I figured I would read it slow- when I had a few minutes here or there that I couldn't work on the costumes (at night, or while eating etc). But neither went as planned, since the moment I picked it up at 7 P.M. last night, I couldn't put it down until I finished it.
I bet you follows Penelope who is smart, nerdy, and still a virgin in college, and Ryker who is a jock, has a different woman on his shoulders every week, and can get any one he wants. When his eyes land on Penelope she made it clear it wasn't going to happen. They are enemies. So why all of a sudden is Ryker being nice to her? Why does he promised to win her a date with the guy she has been crushing on? Ryker is holding on to a secret- one that could end in heartbreak for both.
I honestly enjoyed this book. I love Penelope's nerdy and quirkiness, and the push and pull between her and Ryker. And I loved the jock Ryker and how there was more to him then what Penelope originally thought. This was a fun, cute romance where the Jock ends up with the needy virgin, but not without some struggles on the way. And I cannot wait to get to I Dare You, and hope there is more to some of the characters (I  be Chirisma and Blaze and want to know more about them!)
4.5 ⭐ out of 5⭐.

Weekly Newsletter: February 2

Hope everyone has a good couple weeks. I know it says weekly Newsletter & I know I have been taking two weeks each time to put out one 😂😂 I *want* it to be every week, but January is just super crazy over here. - but we'll see once things settle down some if it will stay every other week or if I switch to every week or not 😂😂.  This week, I got my preorder of Onyx Storm in (bday present), and we did my daughter's 10th bday party- she did bowling & invited a ton of friends! She also had a field trip to go skiing earlier in the week too which she liked.  Also here are the vibes I bring to the function but truthfully I probably won't go to the function - I am an introvert & don't people very well 😂😂 but it was a fun challenge to do on IG & TT either way. Do we share anything in common?  What I Read This Week:  Title: Onyx Storm  Series: The Empyrean  Author: Rebecca Yarros Review | Goodreads | Purchase Quote: “I am yours and you ...

So this past weekend my aunt passed away.  But on a more positive note, this was my daughter's last week of school. We started rewatching Dexter, and watching season two of Perfect Match.  What I Read This Week:  Title: Leather & Lark Series: The Ruinous Love trilogy Author: Brynne Weaver   Release Date: June 04 So I love these characters, but this story had a lot of fluff, and at the end felt a little rushed. 4⭐ out of 5⭐.  See Full Review Here .  Title: Lights Out  Author: Navessa Allen   Rereleases August 06, 2024  I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Weekly Newsletter - June 13

As my daughter's school year is winding down, they are trying to cram more things in it - from chorus concerts, to a play, to fun days, and field trips and parties... So it's been a bit hectic.  Also, last Thursday went to run errands before my daughter's chorus concert, & to grab Leather & Lark from Walmart (live in a small town. Walmart is the only place to buy books locally). And they were completely sold out 😭 So I ordered it online (Amazon "2 day shipping" still takes a week 😒). Plus I got a book last week - only UPS left it in a puddle. 😭 We were all home. Could have knocked or even honked or SOMETHING - but no. So also waiting on the replacement for that was well.  Also, I tried to convince my husband we needed to go to B&N in NYC (which is like 7 hours south of us give or take 😂😂) to meet Brynne Weaver to no success.  Annnddd... I tried the challenge of getting my husband to buy my wishlist for me for likes on social media... He wouldn...
