Title: Beautifully Brutal
Series: Cavalieri Della Morte
Author: Dani Rene
In a world ravaged with violence, I still think about the beauty who was taken from me. I’ve turned rabid in her absence. The dormant beast she had tamed is ravenous, feeding on brutality and bloodshed.
I focus on the kill, until Arthur confesses his trump card, shattering every hope I had of reclaiming her. Focused on the job at hand, I step into the lion’s den, only to find nothing is as it seems.
My beast hungers to be satiated.
And my beauty is the only one who can feed it.
And my beauty is the only one who can feed it.
A dark treacherous journey where happily ever after may be just out of reach.
Lance is a trained killer, Arthur's right hand man, and top assassin, in the Cavalieri. Arthur is like a father to Lance, he took Lance in when he was just a kid on the street and made him into the man he is today. Until Lance lays eyes on his daughter who is growing up. Sixteen he first noticed her. Seventeen he stole kisses away in the dark. Eighteen, Arthur caught them and sent her away.
Now, two years later, I just focus on the job, the kills in front of me. Until Arthur slips up and let's me know where Guiliana is. And I will stop at nothing to get her back, even if it kills me in the process.
I thought the idea of this series written by different authors was an amazing idea. A world that they wrote together, each having a different story, and characters. And the idea of the forbidden - older man, younger woman, and boss' daughter peaked my interest and I wanted to know how it plays out.
Except I couldn't get into the story. I don't know if it was because I wasn't in the mood, or the fact that I just couldn't relate to either of the characters, and couldn't get into the story as much as I wanted. As much as I wanted to like it, this book just wasn't for me. 3 ⭐ out of 5 ⭐.
