Review: the Guy On The Right

The Guy On The Right
By Kate Stewart

Blurb:
Strike One-My mother named me Theodore after her favorite chipmunk.
Not cool, Mom.
I‘ve spent most of my life answering to Teddy, because I couldn’t make Theo work.
Except for here. College. The place where all bets are off, and I’ve managed to redeem myself.

There’s only one problem, my new roommate, Troy, is football royalty and looks like he stepped off the set of an Abercrombie shoot.
Doesn’t matter, I cook a mean breakfast for his panty parade, and we get along well.

And anyway, this year I got the girl. And she’s perfect.
That’s right. Theodore Houseman, former band geek, now marching band rock star has finally landed the girl of his dreams.
Everything is perfect.
That is, until Troy takes a good look at her.
I’m not going down without a fight. As a matter of fact, I’m not going down at all. As glorious as these days may be for my all-star roommate, Laney is my end game.
I may not know much about play strategy, but I’ve been the good guy my whole life. I’ve been listening and I know exactly what women want. Framed in a picture standing next to me, Troy may seem like Mr. Perfect, but he’s underestimating the guy on the right.

Spoiler alert: In this story, the underdog is going to win.

Review:
Theo is an underdog. He has three older sisters, named after Theodore the chipmunk, a good guy, and is part of the school matching band. His roommate is none other than Troy - football royalty. All the girls want to get with him. But when Theo meets Laney, - they couldn't be more different - yet she is the girl that he wants. She is endgame for him. So what happens when Troy directs his attention her way?

Theo has felt like an underdog his whole life, always over looked for guys like Troy- who seemingly have it all. But when Theo first meets Laney, he knows that this is the girl he wants, and does everything he can to try to seal the deal. Even if it means being her friend first.
Laney just got out of yet another bad relationship, and isn't ready to jump back into a new one. But she can't deny that her and Theo didn't click on some level when they first met. They instantly become friends. As their attraction for one another grows they need to decide if they will be willing to risk their friendship in order to persue the attraction. And what happens when Laney lays eyes on Troy, who is every bit the guy she normally goes after?
Theo is usually level headed. In the school marching band. Comes from a socialite family. Has three older sisters, listens and knows what women want. Laney is one of the most indecisive people he has ever met. She's a whole lot of country. She has three and a half jobs, and has a gypsy heart. She doesn't know where she wants to go, but she knows the moment she graduates she's leaving town. Where Theo has been in love, and got his heart broken, Laney has never been in love and only said those words out of obligation. They couldn't be more different if they tried.

This book brought on some laughs, and some drama. If you like New Adult/Collage romances then you definitely need to grab this book. It's a whole different side from Kate Stewart that we haven't seen before in her other novels. I enjoyed reading Theo and Laney's story, relating to these characters. They were more than just funny, or bringing drama- but they were real. And that is something that connects all of Kate's books together. The realness. The feelings. Something that you can connect to and feel apart of. 4⭐ out of 5⭐.
