Review: the Guy on the Left

Title: the Guy on the Left
Series: Underdogs series
Author: Kate Stewart
Release Date: Dec 8

It started with a lie. A night of blurred lines between a teacher and a student.

I wasn’t her student, yet it was the single most defining night of my life.

I’ve never been the man she thinks I am.

Most people have no idea about the life I’ve lived or the words that ring true when it comes to me—still waters run deep.

But you’d be hard-pressed to find a coed on the TGU campus who knows otherwise…because I’ve never corrected them.

The clock is ticking down, it’s Fourth and Inches with the ball inside the one-yard line and the focus is on me, The Guy on the Left. I’ve never felt like a football god, inside I’m…just Troy.

It’s time to set the record straight.

For my son, I‘ll find the strength.

In her eyes, I’m determined to gain redemption.

I will have them both, even if I have to take my eye off the ball.

Troy's relationship with Clarissa began on a lie- one that could cost her her job. She was a teacher, and Troy was a student. When their one night of blurred lines- and limbs- ended in a pregnancy Clarissa had to make a choice. For her, and her son. But now Troy wants back into their lives, Clarissa must decide if she will let him, or if she will continue to resent him.

"So what? Our love is messy, unconventional. We can be messy together, that makes us perfect."

If you enjoyed the Guy on The Right then you definitely need to pick up Troy's and Clarissa's story. It's a student-teacher (not HIS teacher, but a teacher from a different school) type romance that started based on a lie- he told her that he was older than he really was. He never thought he would see her again until she found out she was pregnant and sought him out. When she realizes the truth, she cuts all ties with him. Now a single mother- some days she barely scrapes by. Troy tries in his own way to be there for them when he can. But her resentment doesn't let him close. Will Troy be able to redeem himself?
Troy is a player- on and off the field. He plays some mean football- hoping to get drafted, and he plays the ladies. He can have a different woman in his bed every week. But it's no strings attached, just sex. And even though it's been years, he can't get Clarissa off his mind. He is determined now more than ever to be apart of her and their son's life- even if they are taking it slow. Their son doesn't know that Troy is his father after all.
Clarissa is a single mother who has struggled with making ends meet- but still tries to provide the best she could with her son. She teaches at a high school and still resents Troy for the lie he told that could have costed her job. But now, years later- she is trying to do what is best by her son and letting Troy into their lives. She doesn't want to hold on to the anger anymore, but can she forgive him for his actions?
This book was funny, and touching. If you enjoy age-gap romances, RomComs, sports romances and single parent romances then you should definitely pick up the Guy on the Left today! 4 touchdown ⭐'s out of 5⭐.

Title: Broken Bonds  Series: Bonds That Tie  Author: J Bree Release Date: June 2021 After the death of my mother and her Bonded, I was relieved to find my own Bonds. I was sure everything would be okay if I had them. It wasn’t. The fate of our people is in my hands and I know we’re better off if I’m alone. After five years on the run, I’m caught and dragged back to face the men I ran away from. I thought I was doing the right thing. Now, I’m not so sure. North, Nox, Gryphon, Atlas, and Gabe may never forgive me but one thing is for sure.
