Review: Fake Around & Find Out

Title: Fake Around & Find Out
Series: Happy Haven series
Author: S.M. Shade
Release Date: August 18

An enemies-to-lovers, fake relationship romantic comedy.

The Happy Haven Trailer Park is not where I hoped to be at age twenty-five.
Circumstances have left me without a job or a car in a small town where work is scarce. When my insufferable neighbor approaches me with a very indecent proposal to co-star in his videos on the Lonely Hands app, I have to resist the impulse to punch him in the mouth.
I'll admit, Monroe is hot with his dark eyes and quick grin, but he's the most infuriating man I've ever met.
After weeks of no luck finding a new job, I finally accept his offer with one condition. Nobody can know what we're doing.
Now, I'm stuck faking a relationship to hide the real reason that I'm spending so many nights at the home of a man I despise.
It's going to be a long summer.

Can be read as a standalone romance.

Cara never planned for her life to go this way. She never planned to be living in Happy Haven trailer park with Monroe, an insufferable neighbor, or losing her job or car, in a small town where jobs are scarce.
But when that same neighbor approaches her with an indecent proposal to costar in his videos, she resists the urge to punch him in the face. Could she really get close and personal with a man she despises? For the sake of keeping a roof over her head... Under one condition... No one can know. So now, to keep the nosy neighbors from asking too many questions, Cara is stuck faking a relationship with the infuriating guy.

So, I have been in a serious book funk the past month or so. With my mini home from school I don't have as much time to read, not to mention I hit a slump and struggled to pick anything up. But then this book hit my kindle.
So if you don't know, S.M. Shade can bring the funny. Her romcoms are fun, witty, full of banter and are relatable. And this book was just what I needed to help pull me out of my slump.
Cara and Monroe were rivals. They hated each other. Could they set aside their differences to make some cash?
I really enjoyed this book. The book is funny, relatable and the characters are fun and real. It was a great read, with steamy scenes (and I'm not just talking about the dog poop 😉). Definitely worth the read & I can't wait to see what Happy Haven has in store for us next.

S.M. Shade is a full time author who is hopelessly addicted to Dr. Pepper, love stories, sunshine, and men with full sexy lips, though not necessarily in that order. A voracious reader since she sounded out her first word, she started writing as a teenager and rediscovered her love of writing as an adult. Originally from Indianapolis, she now lives in a small Kentucky town with my college age son.

Weekly Newsletter: February 2

Hope everyone has a good couple weeks. I know it says weekly Newsletter & I know I have been taking two weeks each time to put out one 😂😂 I *want* it to be every week, but January is just super crazy over here. - but we'll see once things settle down some if it will stay every other week or if I switch to every week or not 😂😂.  This week, I got my preorder of Onyx Storm in (bday present), and we did my daughter's 10th bday party- she did bowling & invited a ton of friends! She also had a field trip to go skiing earlier in the week too which she liked.  Also here are the vibes I bring to the function but truthfully I probably won't go to the function - I am an introvert & don't people very well 😂😂 but it was a fun challenge to do on IG & TT either way. Do we share anything in common?  What I Read This Week:  Title: Onyx Storm  Series: The Empyrean  Author: Rebecca Yarros Review | Goodreads | Purchase Quote: “I am yours and you ...

So this past weekend my aunt passed away.  But on a more positive note, this was my daughter's last week of school. She had half days all week and now she is home for summer break until after Labor Day in September.  And I finished up two books. We started rewatching Dexter, and watching season two of Perfect Match.  What I Read This Week:  Title: Leather & Lark Series: The Ruinous Love trilogy Author: Brynne Weaver   Release Date: June 04 So I love these characters, but this story had a lot of fluff, and at the end felt a little rushed. 4⭐ out of 5⭐.  See Full Review Here .  Title: Lights Out  Author: Navessa Allen   Rereleases August 06, 2024  I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Weekly Newsletter - June 13

As my daughter's school year is winding down, they are trying to cram more things in it - from chorus concerts, to a play, to fun days, and field trips and parties... So it's been a bit hectic.  Also, last Thursday went to run errands before my daughter's chorus concert, & to grab Leather & Lark from Walmart (live in a small town. Walmart is the only place to buy books locally). And they were completely sold out 😭 So I ordered it online (Amazon "2 day shipping" still takes a week 😒). Plus I got a book last week - only UPS left it in a puddle. 😭 We were all home. Could have knocked or even honked or SOMETHING - but no. So also waiting on the replacement for that was well.  Also, I tried to convince my husband we needed to go to B&N in NYC (which is like 7 hours south of us give or take 😂😂) to meet Brynne Weaver to no success.  Annnddd... I tried the challenge of getting my husband to buy my wishlist for me for likes on social media... He wouldn...
