Reread: The Dare

Title: The Dare

Series: Losers series

Author: Harley Laroux

Release Date: October 2025 (rerelease)

Jessica Martin is not a nice girl. As Prom Queen and Captain of the cheer squad, she'd ruled her school mercilessly, looking down her nose at everyone she deemed unworthy. The most unworthy of them all? The "freak," Manson, her favorite victim.

But a lot changes after high school.

A freak like him never should have ended up at the same Halloween party as her. He never should have been able to beat her at a game of Drink or Dare. He never should have been able to humiliate her in front of everyone.

Losing the game means taking a dare to serve Manson for the entire night as his slave. It's a dare that Jessica's pride - and curiosity - won't allow her to refuse. What ensues is a dark game of pleasure and pain, fear and desire.

Is it only a game?

Only revenge?

Only a dare?

Or is it something more?

Goodreads | Amazon

So I figured I would finally start the Losers series - so I reread The Dare to prepare myself for it. I'm not usually a fan of novellas - they don't give me everything I crave - but I did enjoy this one. Although, I do have a fear of clowns and while I am CURIOUS of the clowns I don't know if I LIKE the clowns in my romance 😂😂

Don't get me wrong the book was erotic. And a quick/short read - but I like time to connect with the characters which unfortunately a novella doesn't provide. Besides I didn't like Jessica as much as I would have hoped (I'm sure that will change once I get to know them more), & the book isn't super dark despite it having a list of triggers - being banned at one point. I am still excited to dive into Losers and give these books and characters a fair chance (I do want to dive in more & learn more about each of them!). - if you like short erotic reads this book may be right up your ally - just be mindful of any triggers you may have.

Weekly Newsletter: February 2

Hope everyone has a good couple weeks. I know it says weekly Newsletter & I know I have been taking two weeks each time to put out one 😂😂 I *want* it to be every week, but January is just super crazy over here. - but we'll see once things settle down some if it will stay every other week or if I switch to every week or not 😂😂.  This week, I got my preorder of Onyx Storm in (bday present), and we did my daughter's 10th bday party- she did bowling & invited a ton of friends! She also had a field trip to go skiing earlier in the week too which she liked.  Also here are the vibes I bring to the function but truthfully I probably won't go to the function - I am an introvert & don't people very well 😂😂 but it was a fun challenge to do on IG & TT either way. I was sure everything would be okay if I had them. It wasn’t. The fate of our people is in my hands and I know we’re better off if I’m alone. After five years on the run, I’m caught and dragged back to face the men I ran away from. I thought I was doing the right thing. Now, I’m not so sure. North, Nox, Gryphon, Atlas, and Gabe may never forgive me but one thing is for sure.
