Review: Burn the Dark

Title: Burn the Dark
Series: Elwood Legacy trilogy
Author: Nicola Rose

Blurb:

What if the good guy you fell for turns bad, and the bad guy swoops in to save the day?
Zac said he’d never run, but we do… and it doesn’t help. When the Bael take me prisoner, he’s forced to make the decision he’s been running from for decades. Forever changed, he’s ripped away from me — leaving the perfect sized hole for Alex to step into.
I should hate him.
I do hate him.
If only I didn't need him.
Struggling to come to terms with our own changes, Alex and I must work together to fix this mess caused by ancient legacy and a vampire leader hell-bent on using us for his own gain.
But the vampires aren’t the only ones with something dark running through their veins… maybe underestimating me was the biggest mistake they all made.

Follow one woman’s dark and messy journey as she’s torn between brothers, morality, and the desire to be free. From slow burn paranormal romance to vampires bringing humanity to its knees – this is one thrilling ride you don’t want to miss!

Review:

*This is book 2 in the Legacy trilogy and Taste the Dark book 1 must be read first.

When Jess is taken by the Bael, it forces Zac to finally go through with the Elwood Legacy for himself and his brother. Doing so frees the beast that he tried to keep locked up all his years. A beast that wants Jess's blood more than ever. And the only one left to protect her, is Alex, Zac's twin brother. Jess should hate him, but she needs him. And they need to work together to stop the Bael and save Zac. But the vampires aren't the only ones with something dark running through their veins. Will Jess be able to tap into her powers, to save Zac and Alex, and humanity as we know it, or will she doom them all?

I am still so enraptured with these books. There is a slow burn romance, hot vampires, powerful witches, a love triangle and the end of humanity hanging in the balance. I love seeing the characters in a new light- and from a different perspective. I loved watching these characters grow and the battle that they faced. And I loved learning more about Alex since he was def a favorite in the first book. This book had action, suspense, danger, the sizzle of slow burning romance, and power. If you are looking for paranormal romances then I def recommend the Elwood Legacy trilogy! I cannot wait to find out what happens next to Jess, Alex, and Zac and the rest of the characters in the final installment. 4⭐ out of 5⭐

Weekly Newsletter: February 2

Hope everyone has a good couple weeks. I know it says weekly Newsletter & I know I have been taking two weeks each time to put out one 😂😂 I *want* it to be every week, but January is just super crazy over here. - but we'll see once things settle down some if it will stay every other week or if I switch to every week or not 😂😂.  This week, I got my preorder of Onyx Storm in (bday present), and we did my daughter's 10th bday party- she did bowling & invited a ton of friends! She also had a field trip to go skiing earlier in the week too which she liked.  Also here are the vibes I bring to the function but truthfully I probably won't go to the function - I am an introvert & don't people very well 😂😂 but it was a fun challenge to do on IG & TT either way. Do we share anything in common?  What I Read This Week:  Title: Onyx Storm  Series: The Empyrean  Author: Rebecca Yarros Review | Goodreads | Purchase Quote: “I am yours and you ...

So this past weekend my aunt passed away.  But on a more positive note, this was my daughter's last week of school. She had half days all week and now she is home for summer break until after Labor Day in September.  And I finished up two books. We started rewatching Dexter, and watching season two of Perfect Match.  What I Read This Week:  Title: Leather & Lark Series: The Ruinous Love trilogy Author: Brynne Weaver   Release Date: June 04 So I love these characters, but this story had a lot of fluff, and at the end felt a little rushed. 4⭐ out of 5⭐.  See Full Review Here .  Title: Lights Out  Author: Navessa Allen   Rereleases August 06, 2024  I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Weekly Newsletter - June 13

As my daughter's school year is winding down, they are trying to cram more things in it - from chorus concerts, to a play, to fun days, and field trips and parties... So it's been a bit hectic.  Also, last Thursday went to run errands before my daughter's chorus concert, & to grab Leather & Lark from Walmart (live in a small town. Walmart is the only place to buy books locally). And they were completely sold out 😭 So I ordered it online (Amazon "2 day shipping" still takes a week 😒). Plus I got a book last week - only UPS left it in a puddle. 😭 We were all home. Could have knocked or even honked or SOMETHING - but no. So also waiting on the replacement for that was well.  Also, I tried to convince my husband we needed to go to B&N in NYC (which is like 7 hours south of us give or take 😂😂) to meet Brynne Weaver to no success.  Annnddd... I tried the challenge of getting my husband to buy my wishlist for me for likes on social media... He wouldn...
