Review: Ask Me Why

Title: Ask Me Why
Author: Harloe Rae
Release Date: June 20

One deep breath. Two slow blinks. Three hollow beats.
I’m still here.
After three years, that reminder isn’t as necessary. But everyone has their bad days. This is definitely one of them.
Until an adorable little boy dashes into my store.
His zest for life makes me smile in a way that’s been long lost.
Then I meet his father.
Well, confront is more like it.

Brance Stone is volatile.
Offensive.
Harsh.
And can’t be bothered to care.
Not that I want him to.
I get frostbite just looking into Brance’s glacial stare. But there’s something undeniable about him.

My misery suddenly craves company. The suffocating numbness lifts whenever Brance is near. That alone should have me running in the opposite direction. Try as I might, there’s no avoiding him. If only I could understand why. As if he’d let me.

I don’t ask. He doesn’t tell. A silent, bitter truce settles between us.
That was our first mistake.
It’s certainly not the last.

Braelyn was having a bad day until a little ball of energy darts into her store, making her genuinely smile for the first time in a long time. She loves his zest for life. Then she meets his father. Brance is cold, harsh, and calculating. And the only thing he can be bothered to care about is his son. But there is something undeniable about him. He makes Braelyn feel alive in a way she hasn't felt for three years. She should avoid him, yet she craves him whenever he is near. Has Brance met his match with Braelyn and her smart mouth?

This book was an enemies to lovers romance full of emotion. Brance is closed off to woman in general given his past, and Braelyn has been through something traumatizing. Both are broken, but are trying to make their way through the world the best way they know how. And when they are together their jagged broken pieces fit together to make something beautiful and unique. I fell in love with Braelyn & Brance's story.  I connected with Braelyn, and related to her, and felt for her. 4⭐ out of 5⭐.
