Review: the Judgment of Paris

Title: the Judgment of Paris
Series: the Odyssey duet series
Author: Dr. Rebecca Sharp
Release Date: July 9

Love is honorable but selfish. Love is a record of my wrongs.
Love had fractured in trials but held on for the truth.
And the truth was he’d hurt me, yet I loved him.
He’d left me, yet I followed him.
But I was done with Léo Baudin.
And as soon as the semester was over, I would be done with Paris.
But until then, I would learn the rest of his secrets.
The ones they whispered about behind his back. The ones that had the entire city watching his every move. The ones that held him hostage.
But to know his secrets meant to know him. And to know him was to fall further for the man who’d already hurt me so much.
I hated him for breaking my heart, but I should’ve learned by now that the things we loathe become the things we love.
And just when I thought there was nothing left to keep us apart, the ghosts of his past came back to life with a truth neither of us could have expected.
And lies that neither of us could imagine.
As each layer unraveled, the choice between power and wisdom and love grew greater. And the consequences of our decision would be the judgment of this city.
But when all else fails, love always hopes.
Against all odds, love always perseveres.
The Judgment of Paris is the second book in the Odyssey Duet. It is necessary to read The Fall of Troy (Book 1) first.

Where do I even begin with this book?
First, you NEED to read the Fall of Troy before you get into this book. This is a continuation of the story between Troy and Leo.

Leo and Troy's relationship was far from perfect. Leo hurt Troy. She loved him. She loathed him. And she followed him to Paris. But once her school semester was done, she would be gone. But until then, she would learn all his secrets. But to know his secrets, meant to know him- all of him. And that would only make her fall further. She hated him. But the things we loathe become the things we love... Just when there should have been nothing to keep them apart, and hope creeps in, ghosts of Leo's past come to haunt them, with truths and lies. Will Leo and Troy's love withstand the battle, or were they always meant to be star-crossed lovers, destined to have loved and lost?

This tale between Leo and Troy was so beautifully written. So raw, powerful and emotional. Their road towards each other had never been easy, obstacles thrown in their path, their happy ever after and forever always out of reach. They are like planets orbiting each other, crossing paths again, and again, each pass bringing them closer to each other, but also sending them spinning onto a collision course, the impact fusing them together, while scattering the remaining pieces about, neither one able to stop it. Their love isn't perfect. Isn't what fairy tales are made of. It is what legends are written of. It's real, raw, powerful. It's bigger, grander, than both of them, unable to be contained. This story is about two lost and broken souls finding solstice in each other, this story continuing on right where the Fall of Troy leaves off. Just when Leo and Troy find each other again, and hope blooms, it will be tested once again in ways before were prepared for. Will their love persevere, or will it fall and crumble under the pressure and decision that could end it once and for all?
